Arsenal handed boost in pursuit of £43m-rated midfielder

Arsenal have been handed a boost in their efforts to sign Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech after the winger was reportedly told he can leave this month, according to Calcio Mercato.

The 26-year-old has caught the attention of Europe’s big clubs after impressing big time in the Dutch club’s impressive Champions League run last season. The Moroccan has also had an impressive season so far both in Europe and the Eredivisie.

The report in Calcio Mercato claims that Ziyech has been given the opportunity to seek a move away from Amsterdam should a suitable bidder be found. It further states that the North London club have a strong interest in the winger.

That fee is said to be in the region of £43m which is great value for money for a player of Ziyech’s quality. The midfielder joined Ajax in 2016 and has gone on to become one of their most important players.

His best attributes are his passing and dribbling and the Moroccan has shown that he has an eye for goal as well. Considering the transfer fee that is being quoted, it seems unlikely that the Gunners will pursue a deal as per recent reports on the transfer budget.

Whether they actually go ahead with the deal is another matter given that reinforcements are needed in the defense more than anything else. The injury to Calum Chambers will make the club think twice about going after one more attacker.

There is no doubt that Ziyech would add a lot of quality to the Arsenal side and has already shown in the past that he can perform at the highest level such as the Champions League.

We should know more about this by the end of the month. And if the club were to go ahead with a deal for him, fans will certainly be excited on the basis of what he has done in the past.
