Arsenal Team News against Aston Villa: Martinelli, Saka

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal will welcome a familiar face to the Emirates on Sunday as they face Aston Villa in one of their tougher games during the title run-in, so let’s take a look at the latest team news.

The Gunners had an exhausting and brutal encounter against Bayern Munich during the week which ended 2-2. They will be happy that they could salvage a draw and would want to win at the weekend before heading to Germany for the 2nd leg.

Jurrien Timber is the only player who is not in contention to be starting but there is a lot of optimism surrounding the defender. As for other injury worries, there are some injury worries with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli but the duo are likely to be available.

Both the wingers are returning from injuries and don’t appear to be at their best. So, it will be on the manager to rotate the squad around to keep everyone fit and fresh. That could result in Mikel Arteta making some changes.

Arsenal Fever View:

Though Villa will not have Douglas Luiz due to suspension, they have enough quality to present a problem for any team. The likes of Ollie Watkins, Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey are surely going to cause the hosts many problems.

For the north Londoners, they will have one eye on the 2nd leg against Bayern and that could influence the intensity with which they play. One good thing for the hosts is that the Villains also have played in a European fixture during the week.

Villa have had two days less rest compared to the Gunners but the difference in fitness is only going to be marginal. And with the visitors being one of the few teams to have beaten the Emirates club, there is an added significance to this match.

Arsenal are going to face one of their most difficult games left in the league. Villa have shown that they know how to beat this team and Emery is a very shrewd manager. That makes this game that much more difficult, and Arteta would want to prove the doubters wrong. This is sure to be a great game for the neutrals.
