Arsenal Team News against Bayern Munich: Martinelli, Timber

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal turn their attention towards Europe as Bayern Munich will be at the Emirates on Tuesday for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, so let’s take a look at the latest team news.

The Gunners are in great form this year and it sees them on top of the Premier League table. On a continental level, they had to dig deep and fight hard against Porto to reach this stage and would want to continue their European adventure.

Bukayo Saka started the game over the weekend which was good news, although the winger is still not back to 100%. Another player making his way back to full fitness is Gabriel Martinelli who will most likely come off the bench.

Jurrien Timber has returned to training and Mikel Arteta will be happy with the options at his disposal. There could be some shuffling for the Bayern game, but it is more likely that we will see the same set of players.

Arsenal Fever View:

Apart from it being a chance to win some silverware, this is an opportunity for the north Londoners to exorcise some demons of the past. That has to do with Bayern being one of the teams that constantly ended the hosts’ Champions League dreams.

Arteta was part of some of those teams that lost to the German giants and will know what is at stake. Though the visitors are not in great form, they have some incredible players who can change the direction of the game in an instant.

The defence is one area where Arteta would be keen for his players to do well. On an attacking front, it is important to be clinical given that there aren’t usually many chances to be found at this level.

Arsenal have a chance to show the rest of Europe just what they are made of. Though the game might be more open than the one against Porto, there are bound to be some nerves. If the Gunners can take care of that and play their usual way, the Emirates crowd could go home very happy.
