Lucas Torreira drops social media hint about Arsenal transfer

Lucas Torreira

Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira has dropped a possible hint over his move to Arsenal during this summer’s transfer window.

The Gunners are said to have already begun discussions with Sampdoria for the Uruguayan and a recent report has suggested that they have already agreed to trigger the player’s €25m release clause.

Despite this, there has been a minor stumbling block in regards to agent fees and the player’s representative has asked a week’s time to decide on Torreira’s future with Napoli and Borussia Dortmund also to be interested.

Amidst of all that, Torreira has dropped an Arsenal transfer hint on social media which has been surprisingly spotted by Football.London.

Torreira, who is currently with Uruguay ahead of the summer World Cup, has liked both Arsenal and Mesut Ozil on Instagram and this may suggest that he could be off to the Emirates.

In recent times, Brazilian midfielder Fred followed a similar step of liking fan posts prior to his Manchester United switch but nothing is guaranteed with the current state of the market.

A number of deals have been hijacked at the 11th hour by different teams across the world and there is no assurance that Torreira will become a Gunner unless a deal is finalised.

Nevertheless, the supporters could be pleased that the club are looking to sort the weak links within the squad and it seems Mislintat may pursue three more signing this summer.

Aside from right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, the German is said to be eyeing a goalkeeper, central midfielder and centre-back to complete the club’s summer business.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos is expected to be the central defender to bolster the backline but it remains to be seen who the remaining signings could be.

Arsenal ‘positive’ that Aaron Ramsey will sign new contract

Arsenal are reportedly making progress towards committing Aaron Ramsey to a new long-term deal.

The Welshman’s current contract is due to expire in June 2019 but there is a positive signal that the midfielder will extend his stay.

According to The Telegraph, manager Unai Emery is keen to get a deal over the line with Ramsey as the club seek to avoid a similar situation with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil last summer.

It is added that the Welshman could be sold if an agreement is not reached but there is the optimism that the 27-year-old will commit his future to the club.

Towards the backend of last season, Ramsey indicated that the club hadn’t begun negotiations over a probable extension but it is now reported that he has been offered a significant pay-rise on his current £100,000-a-week wages.

Meanwhile, the Welshman has recently talked up the excitement of playing under new boss Emery following his vacation and the signs reflect towards the midfielder penning a long-term contract with the club.

Ramsey has been with the Gunners since the summer of 2008 and during this period, he has gone to become the club’s highest scoring central midfielder after surpassing Cesc Fabregas’ 57-goal tally.

Meanwhile, the former Cardiff City graduate has also scored the match-winning goals in the 2014 and 2017 FA Cup finals and his efforts are ought to be remembered by the club’s supporters for a long-time.

Regardless of this, Emery is said to be in the market for another midfielder, who could add some physical presence in the centre of the park. Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini has been of interest to the Spaniard of late but the 30-year-old does not seem as the priority.

Arsenal ready to trigger Lucas Torreira’s release clause

Lucas Torreira

Arsenal have long needed some reinforcements in midfield and this has increased ever since the departure of Santi Cazorla.

The diminutive Spaniard had a huge influence on the team. His dribbling, passing and underrated defensive skills were an asset to the team. There is no player in the current squad who can quite do what he does.

But, that may be about to change with the potential arrival of a midfielder. The man in question is the  Sampdoria midfielder, Lucas Torreira. The Gunners are said to have struck an agreement for the player with his club, according to reports in SampNews24.

The report states that the North London club have now agreed on triggering the release clause of €25m while also claiming that the agent fee issue is likely to drag on beyond this month.

For those familiar with the Italian league, you are sure to know a lot about him. But, for those, who do not, here is a small taste of his talent. He is about Cazorla’s height but defensively more aggressive than the little magician. His tackling is a highlight of his game.

Apart from this, he also offers to break the defensive lines or thread the needle. His acceleration allows him to get away from his marker. Fans will see someone who is, calm and composed on the ball. The midfielder has the ability to go box to box as well. These qualities make him the complete package.

Arsenal fans should be excited with the arrival of Torreira. Not only is he going to plug a gap, he also complements the existing players. A midfield three of Xhaka, Torreira and Ramsey is incredibly effective as well as being versatile. They are sure to give Unai Emery a boost in doing well. There seems one detail that has stalled the progression of the deal.

The agent of the midfielder wants a certain amount to be paid to him. This is what is preventing the deal from reaching the finish line. Although there is an agreement between the two clubs, nothing can happen until the agent is happy. It is in the best interest of Arsenal to complete the deal as soon as possible. Once the World Cup starts, the player’s value is sure to go up.

Journalist who broke Aubameyang transfer story claims Arsenal are interested in Leno

Bernd Leno

Arsenal’s transfer activity kicked off with the signing of Stephan Lichsteiner. The veteran defender was signed on a free from Juventus.

There are a lot of other players that the club has been linked with for a variety of positions. One among is them is that of the goalkeeper.

Last season, this proved to be a real weak spot for the Gunners with Petr Cech proving to be a little error prone. There have been a lot of names suggested for this position but a favorite seems to have emerged from the list.

The man said to replace Cech is the German Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen. Arsenal are looking forward to sealing the transfer quickly.

This information was confirmed when Spanish journalist Kike Marin tweeted saying that Leno was the main target of Unai Emery. The new manager has chosen the German to be his goalkeeper.

Here is the tweet:

Given the number of rumors that come about every year, it is tough to gauge the reliability of them. But, Marin has developed a reputation for being right since the January transfer window.

He was one of the first to say that Aubameyang was coming to Arsenal. At the time, not many seemed to believe him but he was right in the end. He showed this again this past month, when he suggested Emery for the Arsenal job. Despite a majority of people saying that it was Arteta, he was right once again.

Perhaps it is his contact with Raul Sanllehi that gives him access to this kind of information. Whatever the reason may be, Arsenal fans would do well to keep an eye out for his tweets regarding transfer activity. As for Leno, the fact that he is not going to the World Cup makes the negotiation that much easier.

It is encouraging that Arsenal are in the market for a goalkeeper. And fans will be hoping that signing the German will be a new dawn for the Gunners between the sticks. All we can do now is wait and hope for a swift completion. But, given how Arsenal operate, it’s not going to be swift is it ?

Arsenal reach agreement with Sampdoria for Lucas Torreira, but agent fees causing trouble

Lucas Torreira

Arsenal are reported to have reached an agreement with Sampdoria for the transfer of Lucas Torreira but disputes over his agent’s fees appear to be holding back the completion of the transfer.

Di Marzio had initially broken the news weeks back about ongoing negotiations between both clubs for the transfer of the midfielder. The report at that time claimed that both clubs were happy with proceedings but no agreement was reached, thanks to the agent fees.

Discussions were still ongoing and an agreement was expected for the 15th of June. Now, SampNews24 claims the story does hold water as the north London club have now agreed on triggering the release clause of €25m while also supporting the claim of Di Marzio that the agent fee issue is likely to drag on beyond this month.

Torreira is a defensive midfielder who makes tackles and breaks attacks from deep. He had a fantastic season scoring 5 goals for Sampdoria in 38 matches. He may not score too many goals but he does his job in the midfield with efficiency and is good at taking set pieces.

Currently, he is on national team duty with the Uruguayan National team preparing for the FIFA World cup and is a guaranteed starter for the football mundial.

Failure to conclude negotiations may put the entire transfer in jeopardy at least from Arsenal’s perspective. If Torreira has a good outing for his country, his value may increase significantly forcing Arsenal to pay more in the nearest future if they really do want the player.

The veracity of Di Marzio’s claims and the information from the Italian media may appear suspect for now, but one shouldn’t be surprised if the deal eventually goes through.

With the surprise signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus on a free transfer and yesterday’s signing of Sokratis from Dortmund, Arsenal appear to be going after players that are under the media radar.

Arsenal should sign Marouane Fellaini, claims Gunners legend

Arsenal Legend Robert Pires believes his former club should go all out to sign Marouane Fellaini this summer in a recent interview with Sky Sports.

The 30-year-old will be out of contract this summer and can negotiate a free transfer to any club of his choice. Since signing with Utd during the ill-fated reign of David Moyes, Fellaini has appeared in 156 games for the Red Devils.

News broke out late last week that Arsenal were interested in bringing the big Belgian to North London and the former Arsenal player who was a member of the famous Invincibles believes doing so will be beneficial to the club.

Pires in an interview said:

”Everybody knows Marouane Fellaini in the Premier League. Last season, it was very difficult for him with the manager but I think he is a good player.”

”If he wants to join Arsenal I think it will be good news. He needs a new start and with his quality, He can help Unai Emery and the players in the squad”.

Since Joining Manchester Utd, Fellaini has gone on to win cup titles at Old Trafford including the Europa League but has never won the Premier League. He is also one of the most under-appreciated players in the Utd squad due to his playing style and lack of finesse on the ball.

If Arsenal succeed in luring him to the Emirates, he may yet represent a shrewd signing because the midfielder will be arriving for free and will bring something different to the Gunners.

He is a real threat at set pieces and has a willingness to stick his foot into tackles and that is what makes Fellaini an interesting to buy. If the wage demands are decent, then it will be worth a gamble.

Jack Wilshere ready to sign £100,000-a-week Arsenal deal on one condition

Jack Wilshere

England international Jack Wilshere is reportedly prepared to extend his Arsenal stay beyond the summer, provided he is offered assurances of regular gametime under new boss Unai Emery.

According to Evening Standard, the 26-year-old is open to the option of signing a three-year deal worth £100,000-a-week but he is now said to want the guarantee of regular participation next term.

Midway through the 2017/18 season, Wilshere’s decision to snub an extension was related to his reluctance to accept a pay-cut but the midfielder’s stance appears to have since changed with Emery yet to speak personally to any of the first-team players.

As per Evening Standard, the Englishman is likely to have a personal chat with Emery once the Spaniard returns from his family holiday and only after that, Wilshere may come to a conclusion over his future.

Should Wilshere eventually sign a fresh deal, his contract is likely to be heavily incentivised for the next three years with the club’s hierarchy having concerns over his fitness.

The Stevenage-born ace did manage to rack 38 appearances in the Gunners shirt last campaign but he did have a couple of injury scares which fortunately enough were not for the long-term.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are said to be closing in on the signing of Paris Saint-Germain teenager Yacine Adli, who is widely expected to leave Les Parisiens after turning down a professional contract.

The Frenchman can only join the Gunners after the completion of his 18th birthday but the talks are said to be fruitful to pursue the youngster, who likes to play with a forward-thinking mindset.

Adli, who has already represented France at different youth levels, is capable of slotting into an attacking or central midfield position. He was handed his debut by Emery in the 83rd minute of the final game of the 2017/18 Ligue 1 campaign versus Caen.

Unai Emery wants to sell Alexandre Lacazette this summer

Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal boss Unai Emery does not rate Alexandre Lacazette too highly and will sell him this summer for the right offer, according to reports in the Daily Star.

The summer transfer window is full of twists and turns along with its full measure of surprises for clubs and their loyal fans and this summer will be no different.

If reports emanating from Turkey are anything to go by, Alexandre Lacazette may be on his way out of the club as the new boss at the Emirates does not rate him well enough to guarantee him a starting spot in the team.

The French striker who joined from Arsenal from Olympique Lyonnaise last season for £46m has failed to make Didier Deschamps’ squad for this summer’s World Cup and is attracting interest from Turkish Super League outfit, Fernabache.

Sources claim the new boss is open to selling the striker for two reasons. Firstly, the team is in need of fresh reinforcements and selling the striker for a sizeable fee may help raise funds for the pursuit of the much-needed talent in other areas.

Secondly, insiders claim Emery is planning to play a 4-2-3-1 or his much preferred 4-3-3 formation which He deployed during his time in PSG and at Sevilla.

This formation has space for only one striker and with the quality of Emerick Aubameyang already at the club, first-team opportunities for the Frenchman may be hard to come by next season.

Selling him, for now, appears to be the best solution over keeping him on the bench for the most part of next season or playing him in cup games or as an impact player.

How much Arsenal are open to selling him for is not clear at the moment but they will be willing to listen to interested clubs who are prepared to make the right offer.

On the other hand, Alexandre Lacazette may yet stay in North London and attempt to improve his form under the new manager but one thing is clear for all to see, and that is next season will be a hot competition for attacking positions.

Caglar Soyuncu’s agent confirms Arsenal transfer talks

Caglar Soyuncu

The representative of Caglar Soyuncu has confirmed that Arsenal are leading the race to sign the central defender and only a transfer fee remains to be sorted out with German side Freiburg.

As per agent Mustafa Dogru, the Turkey international is said to have monitored by head of recruitment Sven Mislintat since his days at Borussia Dortmund and admits that a deal could be finalised in the near future.

He told Turkish Football“Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund. He first scouted him back in Germany.

“Sven is interested in Caglar, there are concrete talks, all that remains is for a fee to be agreed. We will see what happens next.”

Despite this, his representative admitted that there could yet be a twist with four Premier League clubs possibly including Liverpool said to be keeping tabs on the centre-back’s services.

Europa League holders Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested in the Freiburg ace but a move to the English top-flight seems the youngster’s preferred choice for the moment.

Caglar is widely regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in the German top-flight and the physical side of his game alongside his ability to play with either foot have been highlighted as his main strengths.

Meanwhile, the Turk has also made a mark at the national level with 23 caps to date, and he was most recently on target for Turkey in the 2-2 friendly draw against Tunisia.

Soyuncu is not quite the finished product which was showcased by his defensive blunder against Russia earlier this week but the centre-back is nonetheless fancied by Mislintat, which should give some indication of his overall qualities.

Konstantinos Mavropanos made a fine start to his Gunners career during the backend of last term and hopefully, the club can wrap up a quick deal for another excellent young prospect in Soyuncu, though he won’t come on the cheap.

Freiburg have previously indicated that the Gunners have been tracking the Turkish centre-back but they are unlikely to let him go unless their £35m valuation is matched.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reacts as Arsenal sign Stephan Lichtsteiner

Aubameyang

He has been a revelation ever since he joined the Gunners during the January transfer window. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has had a blistering start to his career as the star striker for Arsenal.

His talent and goal-scoring ability has impressed fans from all over the world. It is not easy to come to a new country and play in an unfamiliar league but he has shown that he is more than capable.

The ability to link up with his teammates and be clinical in front of goal makes him a real threat.

Off the pitch, his charming and easygoing personality makes it difficult not to like the guy. He is very active on Twitter and Instagram and he also regularly interacts with fans.

The Arsenal striker affectionately known as Auba, seems to be very down to earth kind of guy. Someone you would really like to hang out with. You can find him liking, replying and retweeting posts about him. There are not many footballers who tend to do this.

Given his activeness on social media, it is not a surprise that he reacted to the club’s signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner. In fact, it could be said that the fans were looking forward to what he was going to say. He tweeted:

“@LichtsteinerSte welcome to the house @Arsenal.”

Though it may sound like a simple message, there is one underlying factor there. It is the use of the word ‘house’. To many, it may seem like nothing but it shows the kind of connection the striker has with the club.

As we all know, football is a team game and it is important to have the right kind of team spirit. Fans were quick to spot the relationship that the striker and the full-back might have on the pitch.

The veteran defender is known for his crossing abilities and the Arsenal striker will surely look forward to that. If Arsenal want to have any kind of success in the forthcoming season, it is necessary to have players on the same wavelength.
