Deal Agreed: £80,000-a-week to hold talks over transfer, as Arsenal ‘accept’ offer for forward

Lucas Perez

After spending quite a lot of money in this transfer window, Arsenal are trying to recover some of the funds that have been used to bring in five players.

The Gunners had a limited budget to begin this season and the investment has been quite heavy. The club has decided to generate some funds by selling players.

If reports in Portuguese publication A Bola, are to be believed, Lucas Perez could be on his way out with a move to Sporting Lisbon with the North London club accepting a £4.4m offer. However, the Portuguese club will have to sort out personal terms with the forward.

This seems very little for a player that is clearly talented and has been treated rather unfairly at the club. Also, when you see other clubs selling squad players for a high price, it makes one wonder whether there is a problem in the Arsenal board.

It is being suggested that new manager Unai Emery does not see a future for Perez at the club and that is the reason why the Gunners are willing to sell him. Selling players that do not have a future at the club is a good way of freeing up some wages that can be put to better use.

There are also suggestions that the Gunners are looking to bring in more players and if that were to happen, funds need to be generated.

The £80,000-a-week star who joined Arsenal in the summer of 2016 has never really been able to establish himself at the Emirates. After his first season, he was sent on loan to Deportivo La Coruna where he was one of their most impressive players in a highly disappointing season.

And earlier in the preseason, it seemed like he was going to give a chance but as we can see now, there seems to be a change in plans.

The new season looks to be a promising one for the Gunners as there is a real optimism that surrounds the club at the moment. And if the squad can be improved despite a player like Perez leaving, then it does not matter that much in the long run.

£90,000-a-week star officially confirms he will complete Arsenal exit after his contract ends

Koscielny

When it was announced that Arsene Wenger would be leaving the Gunners after 22 years, there was a lot of speculation as to who would follow him out the door.

We have already seen some departures in the form of Per Mertesacker who retired and both Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere who have left on a free.

Another player who could be added to that list is the French center back Laurent Koscielny who has hinted that he will leave Arsenal at the end of his contract.

The center back who is now 33 will be 35 when his contract does get over in the summer of 2020. After that, it is difficult to see him stay with the Gunners especially given the injury problems that he has been having.

He is currently out with a knock that was picked up against Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Europa League semifinal. It is not known when he will return to the team and even when he does, there is no guarantee that he will have a starting spot.

Arsenal have already gone ahead and purchased another senior center back from Borussia Dortmund in the form of Sokratis. It is expected that the Greek will be the first choice defensive pair along with Shkodran Mustafi.

The hint about £90,000-a-week defender leaving came when he was asked about his plans for the future by a French newspaper, to which he said:

“I’m under contract until June 2020. Afterwards? I’m thinking of moving on, but I do not know where”

This certainly looks like an indication that the player will be leaving once his contract is over. He has given the Gunners innumerable instances of his courage, leadership and most importantly, defensive skill.

He has helped the club come out of a trophy drought and helped stabilize a defense and team that always seem to wander at any give time. The impact of Koscielny can be seen when he is not in the team and that is a testament to his ability. If he were to leave, he can go with his head held high.

Arsenal ready £25m move to agree transfer deal for 29-year-old star, Emery wants player

Unai Emery

We are in the final days of the transfer window so it is only natural that there are a lot of rumors flying around regarding potential deals.

Arsenal always get linked to a number of players and this window has been no different. Another name that has been thrown into the mix as per reports in Sun, is the Croatian player Domagoj Vida who currently plays for Besiktas in Turkey. The deal is said to cost the Gunners as much as £25m.

But for this to happen, there have to be some players leaving the club, otherwise, Arsenal will not really have the funds to buy the  Croatian. There are two members that are thought to be on their way out and they are Shkodran Mustafi and Danny Welbeck.

The name of Mustafi is interesting as it seems that Vida would arrive as a direct replacement for the German.

The Gunners already have a good number of center backs at the club and given that they are not going to be playing a 3 man back line, it appears that there are one too many.

Sorting out the defense is without a doubt one of the biggest challenges that new manager Unai Emery will face. The Gunners have done something to fix that with the signings of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis who are very much unlike the players that Arsenal usually buy.

Vida is coming off the back of reaching the World Cup final where he was an important member of the Croatian team. His partnership with Dejan Lovren was a big reason as to why they were able to reach the final. And even though he has been impressive in the recent past, it is tough to see Arsenal buying another center back who is approaching 30.

There are very few days left in the transfer window so if anything were to happen, it should happen very soon. If the Gunners were to get Vida, he will surely add some experience and tenacity to the Arsenal defense.

Done Deal: Arsenal officially confirm that forward has agreed deal to join another club

chuba-akpom

Now that the Gunners are almost done with bringing in players, their focus seems to have shifted towards the selling of players.

This is needed as the club has to recover some of the funds that has been used to bring in the aforementioned players. One such player is the striker Chuba Akpom who has joined the Greek club PAOK as the Gunners have confirmed this deal.

For someone who has been at the club since the age of six, to leave this way is a little bit sad but it is needed for his career. Akpom was never really able to establish himself with the Gunners and this resulted in a series of loan spells.

This move is a challenge for the still young Akpom who will be relishing the chance to play a little bit more regularly. And there is even a outside chance that he will play in the Champions League as PAOK are in the running for the Group Stages.

Earlier, it was suggested that a Belgian side was interested in bringing him to their team but it appears that Akpom was swayed by the offer of the Greek side.

When Akpom was introduced to the first team, there were high hopes for him and many thought that he would go on to become an important member of the squad.

Sadly, this did not happen as there were a number of factors that prevented him from doing so. A key reason was the fact that there were players in the team who were much better than him.

He is at that age where he needs to play regularly otherwise, his career is going to fall by the wayside. This should not happen for a player who is obviously talented as evidenced by his time in the Arsenal youth teams.

Though he was not able to contribute in a significant manner, everyone at the club would like to wish Akpom the best of luck for his new adventure.

Arsenal submit £35.6m bid to agree deal for Spanish winger, as Unai Emery eyes sixth signing

Predicted Arsenal Line-up

The Gunners are not yet done when it comes to signing players in the transfer window as they are now targeting a sixth player.

Arsenal have signed five players so far but none of them belong to the forward line. They would like to change that with the signing of Lucas Vazquez from Real Madrid, according to reports via Team Talk.

The report states that the North London club have submitted a £35.6m offer to sign the attacker. It seems Unai Emery is very keen on bringing Vazquez to the Emirates.

But all this seems a little too good to be true at the moment given the fact that Arsenal have already spent a considerable amount of money.

If they were to make another signing, then they would first have to sell some players in order to raise the funds needed.

Now, Vazquez is a very impressive player who has been able to showcase his abilities at the Bernabeu despite only having limited opportunities. He is not super fast but he is quick enough to cause the defenders a problem and that will be of use to the Gunners.

Arsenal are in need of a winger as that is the one position where they are lacking something at the moment. It is difficult to see Real Madrid letting him go given that Cristiano Ronaldo has left the club this summer.

Only if the Spanish club were to sign someone as a replacement, would they even think of letting Vazquez go. There has been some suggestion that the Gunners have been keeping an eye on him for some time now and were even prepared to offer him a lucrative contract.

So, this story might have some legs after all and we could see the Spaniard end up at the Emirates. Arsenal already do have a strong squad but there is no such thing as having too much quality.

The Gunners will be competing in four competitions and they need as many good players as possible. If Arsenal were to splash the cash on Vazquez, it will go a long way in solving a problem that exists in the club.

Official: Arsenal make announcement that 22-year-old midfielder has agreed a new deal

alex_iwobi

If there is anything that both Arsenal and their fans don’t want to see is a repeat of the contract situations that both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were a part of.

So, they have made an active effort to resolve the contract situations of other players. One such player happens to be Alex Iwobi who has just extended his contract and the club have officially confirmed this.

This has not been met with as positive a reception as the club would have expected as there are some fans who believe that the performances of the player do not warrant an extension.

But it is clear that the club and new manager Unai Emery rate him very highly. When Emery was talking to the club’s official website about the extension, he had this to say:

“I’m very pleased Alex has signed a new contract with us. He is a great example of a player who can succeed from the Academy through hard work and I look forward to working with him and our other talented young players in the squad.”

The reason why some fans are not happy with Iwobi is due to the fact that the midfielder has not been able to play as well as he can. There is a real belief among the fans the player has a very high ceiling but is just not able to push to that next level.

Hopefully, this will be the season where he shows everyone just what he can do. And given the system that Emery wants to play, it seems that it will benefit the playing style that the manager wants to impose.

Iwobi is very talented and linking up with his teammates and he is great at gliding past players to create space for himself.

All these are qualities that are very helpful for a team that wants to employ a passing game. Iwobi is a player that will have a big impact on the upcoming season and this contract is an indicator of the faith that the club has in him.

Deal Agreed, Midfielder officially confirms he will join Arsenal very soon

The Gunners as everyone knows, have been very active in this transfer window as they have bought more players than they usually do.

What is encouraging is that the club has also focused on the future and have gone some way in securing that with the signing of some really talented youngsters.

Another one would soon be joining the ranks in the form of Romanian youngster Catalin Carjan who in a statement with a local paper Digi Sport, all but confirmed the move.

This will add to the already promising of list players that the Gunners have at the moment. While these players cannot be expected to make a contribution to the first team at the moment, they will surely get a chance in the future.

When Carjan was asked a question regarding a move to the Emirates, he said:

“It’s something else, it’s a big difference I cannot wait to go there to sign and it’s going to be much better.

“I will sign when I’m 16, but I do not want to come in, they’ve been watching me for more matches and that was it, after that they sent me the tickets to go to them, they told me that I was a good player and that they wanted [me] to go to the big team in two years.”

This seems to suggest that he is on is way to the Emirates and if it is the case, that is very encouraging for the club. Also, his comments seem to suggest that the club has already made plans for him to be a part of the first team in the near future.

It is clear that the club and manager Unai Emery see the value of the youth teams and have made plans to use them. Arsenal have had a history of nurturing young talent so for Carjan, it promises to be an encouraging situation.

When see the quality of the players that are coming in, it appears that the Gunners are serious about planning for not only the present but the future as well.

Carjan will find himself at a club that knows how to develop young players so that they can reach their potential. We have seen countless examples of such cases. He is highly regarded in his home country so it would be nice if those performances are transferred to the Emirates as well.

21-year-old forward pictured in London alongside Arsenal players, fuels transfer links

Unai Emery

For the most part, it looks like Arsenal are done with their transfer business having signed five players so far.

But that has not stopped other players from being linked with a move to the Emirates. One such player is the Frenchman Ousmane Dembele who plays for Barcelona. He was spotted with a few Arsenal players who were present in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s house.

Naturally, this has gotten Arsenal fans gotten quite excited as they think that this is a hint about where Dembele will end up playing.

He has been linked with a move away from Barcelona for some time now and those rumors intensified once the Spanish club made a move for Malcolm from Bordeaux.

This has made Dembele feel a little unsettled and it is said that as a result of this, he is looking for a move away. It goes without saying that if the Gunners were able to capture him, it will be one of the best pieces of business that they have done in quite a while.

The process of getting him to the Emirates is going to be complicated because of how much Barcelona originally paid for him. Since that sum was very big, there is a good chance that they will be looking to recover at least some part of it.

There are a few reasons as to why he would want to come and join the Gunners. One would be the opportunity to reunite with his good friend Aubameyang who formed an outstanding partnership with Dembele both on and off the pitch. And also, Sven Mislintat is the one who brought him to Dortmund so Arsenal have that advantage as well.

The biggest question is however if the Gunners will have the necessary funds to convince Barcelona to let go of Dembele. If they are able to do that, it will be an enormous boost to the club as well as the fans. And since the transfer window is about to close very soon, Arsenal need to act quickly.

Arsenal planning late swoop to agree deal for £12.5m star, Club ready to sell forward

M'Baye Niang

By the look of things, the Gunners seem to be done with signing defenders and midfielders as the focus now is on the attacking side of things.

There are several players that are being linked with a move to Arsenal and one of them is the Senegalese forward M’Baye Niang, according to reports in the Mirror.

It appears that Niang who had a very good World Cup in Russia has caught the eye of the scouts of the Gunners and the club are eyeing a late swoop to sign the forward. His ability to play on the wings will make him a useful player for the Gunners if they do manage to capture him.

Arsenal have spent quite a bit of money to recruit five players so far and Niang is not going to be cheap by any stretch of the imagination. The fee that Torino want is said to be in the region of £12.5m as that is enough to secure his transfer.

Niang is one player that has been around for such a long time that it is hard to believe that he is still very young. This will benefit the Gunners as they will be getting a player that has a lot to offer.

The wings are one position where Arsenal do need some backup as there are not many players that can do well in that position. And with certain members of the squad such as Lucas Perez and Danny Welbeck being linked with a move away from the club, there may be need for some reinforcements.

With the way new manager Unai Emery is setting up the team, there seems to be a real possibility of a winger playing a prominent role. And given the experience that Niang has on the wings, it will do him a world of good.

If any deal is to be made, the North London club will have to act quickly as there are other clubs in the mix for Niang. Until then, we can only wait and see what happens.

Sky Sports claim 29-year-old forward has agreed transfer deal to leave Arsenal this summer

Lucas Perez

Arsenal have decided to trim their squad and this is understandable given the amount of signings that the Gunners have made this summer.

There are a few players being linked with a move away from the Emirates. One of them is the Spaniard Lucas Perez who is a target of the Fiorentina.

Reports in Sky Italia claim the Italian club are ready to pay a sum of £7m to take the striker. The 29-year-old forward has already agreed terms with Fiorentina and both the clubs should now trash out a compromise on the transfer fee.

Perez has not had the best of careers at the Emirates since his move in the summer of 2016. He was not given enough chances by Arsene Wenger but he did manage to impress during the times he was on the pitch.

As a result of limited opportunities, he was sent back on loan to Deportivo La Coruna. Back at the club from where he joined Arsenal, he was finally able to show what prompted the Gunners to splash the cash on him.

Whenever manager Unai Emery has been asked about Perez, his comments seem to suggest that the sees a future for the player at the club. Given what we have heard so far, it will be a surprise if the player does leave.

There is a real possibility that Perez wants to leave because he feels that he will be getting more playing time in Italy. He is at that age where being on the bench will do him no good, so if he were to move to Fiorentina, it will be good for his career.

As far as the Gunners are concerned, losing him will be a blow to the overall squad as he is one player who can play across the forward line. He has shown that he can play on the wings as well as play through the middle.

Having a player like Perez means that the squad has a really good backup and given the number of matches that the Gunners will be playing during the season, he is sure to have quite a few chances.
