Arsenal make official announcement as 26-year-old Argentine ace leaves on loan

Emiliano Martinez

A lot of the focus on Arsenal this transfer window has been on those coming in. This has resulted in not much being said about those leaving the club.

But there is a change in that with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez who has joined the championship club Reading on a loan basis.

As per the Express, the management agency that Martinez has employed posted on Instagram a photo of the keeper driving on the motorway with the caption reading “news soon”.

This fueled speculation that the Argentine was set to leave the club. As this talk grew, the Gunners put a stop to that with an announcement about the deal on their official website.

The club had this message for the outgoing keeper:

“We wish Emi well for remainder of the season with the Royals.”

Martinez who is 26, is third in the pecking order behind both Bernd Leno and Petr Cech. So, he has not been able to play many games this season.

With Cech set to retire at the end of this season, there is a strong possibility that he will become the second choice for the Gunners from the beginning of the next season.

A loan move such as this is good for the player as it gives Martinez the option to get some matches under his belt. This experience will do him a world of good.

This will be the sixth loan spell that Martinez has had since joining the Gunners’ youth team in 2010. Most of his loan deals have been in the Championship with a stint in the Spanish League with Getafe thrown in as well.

Despite never really breaking through the Arsenal first team, he has shown more than enough to suggest that he is a keeper worth keeping at the club.

In the limited number of matches that Martinez has played for the Gunners, his command over his area has been particularly impressive. Arsenal will be hoping that he comes back as a better player with some games under his belt. Then, he will be ready to take on the mantle of Petr Cech.

Denis Suarez to Arsenal: Barcelona drop major transfer hint over midfielder’s future

Unai Emery

The world of the transfer window is one that is changing all the time. A deal that looked unlikely yesterday suddenly becomes a certainty the next day.

This is also the case with Denis Suarez who appears to be closer than ever to joining the Gunners.

The Express reports that Barcelona, who have just signed Kevin Prince Boateng, had this to say about the squad decisions for their latest game. They posted a tweet that said the following:

“Following confirmation of the transfer of Boateng, there are 18 players in the squad list to face Sevilla FC. Denis Suarez is the player who misses out.”

Given the links that have been present between Denis Suarez and the Gunners, this seems like a suggestion that the player is going to be signed by the London club.

The one factor that is holding up the deal is the way in which the loan is being structured. Barcelona want to protect the value of Suarez and that is scuppering the deal at the moment.

The Spanish giants want the loan deal to include an obligation to buy instead of an option to buy. This has resulted in the Gunners being a little reluctant to go ahead with the transfer.

Suarez is into the final eighteen months of his contract and it makes sense that Barcelona want his value to be protected. If he ends up having a disappointing season at Arsenal, his value is sure to drop.

If that were to happen, Barca would not be able to get much for the midfielder when they finally sell him. It appears that Gunners manager Unai Emery really wants to sign Suarez and that may push the deal through in the end.

But for any sort of resolution to be found, we are going to have to wait a while. There is still some time left in the transfer window so, a positive outcome for both clubs is very much on the cards. Suarez is a talented player and is sure to fit in the Arsenal system.

Arsenal make contact with Spanish club to complete deal for 27-year-old midfielder

James Rodriguez

As Arsenal manager Unai Emery has already mentioned the fact that only loan signings are possible, they are looking at all options. This has resulted in some players being linked with the club.

One of them is the Colombian superstar James Rodriguez who is currently signed to Real Madrid. According to reports from the Independent, the Gunners are readying an offer to take Rodriguez to the Emirates.

The midfielder is currently on loan to German giants Bayern Munich and that deal is set to end at the end of this season. Arsenal are looking to bring Rodriguez on a loan deal but it does not appear that doing that is going to be easy.

Real Madrid would prefer to sell him on a permanent basis when he comes back to the Spanish capital. The report in Independent further states that the Colombian would like to fight for his place at Real.

Another factor that could complicate this deal is the proposed transfer targets that Real have in mind. Reports indicate that the Spanish side is interested in bringing both Christian Eriksen and Eden Hazard from London.

The deal for Eriksen, in particular, could alter what happens to Rodriguez. Real could look into offering Tottenham Rodriguez in order to make the deal for Eriksen a little smoother.

As for Arsenal, this deal seems a little strange as manager Unai Emery has shown that he is unwilling to use a traditional No. 10. The Gunners have a player who is among the best to have played in that position and the manager is not comfortable using him.

This makes the link to Rodriguez a little surprising and it would not be too far off if this was just driven by the media. There isn’t a lot of time left in the transfer window so a deal has to be sorted out quickly.

If the Gunners are able to get a player like Rodriguez, it would be a boost for the club. But that will cast further questions on the future of Mesut Ozil but that is a matter for another day.

Arsenal launch important offer to complete transfer move for 23-year-old winger

The January transfer window is underway and that means that clubs have the opportunity to sign players. As a result of this, we see the Gunners being linked to a host of players.

There are some names that we have already heard of and there are some new names that get added to the mix as well.

As per reports from O Jogo(via Daily Star), a familiar name in the form of Gelson Martins is being linked with a move to the Emirates. The report states that Arsenal have tabled an important offer to the sign the 23-year-old winger.

However, the report doesn’t mention which type of proposal was made. The player was linked with the North London club before his move to Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid.

If a move for Martins was to happen, it will most likely be a loan move and that is one that will suit both the clubs involved as Atletico want to free up space to sign other players.

As for Arsenal, manager Unai Emery has mentioned that the club will only be able to make loan signings. So, this means that a deal is likely to happen.

The other factor that could potentially play a role in this deal is the involvement of French club Monaco. Managed by former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry, the French side have also offered Martins a way out of Spain.

Martins was linked with the Gunners in the summer before he made his exit from Sporting Lisbon. The move to Spain has not worked out the way he thought it would.

The winger has started only one game so far and that is a good indication that Atletico manager Diego Simeone is not all that impressed with the player.

Arsenal are in need of a player who can play on the wings and Martins fits that bill very well. He is extremely fast and skillful and would be a good addition to the Gunners.

There isn’t a lot of time left in the transfer window so the London club would have to get going soon. It is time to for Arsenal to show that they mean business by getting a player like Martins.

Arsenal make transfer decision after suffering huge injury blow

hector bellerin

The Gunners got their season back on track at the weekend with an impressive win against their London rivals, Chelsea.

The only blemish to come out of that match was the horrible injury suffered by Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin. And as a result of that, the club has made a reportedly made a decision about what has to be done.

As per reports from Sky Sports, it seems that the Gunners are satisfied with the options that they have right now. And because of that, they will not be delving into the transfer market to find a replacement.

The Gunners already have players who can fill for Bellerin in that position. One of them is the experienced Stephan Lichtsteiner and the other is youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Of course, one of the lesser mentioned options that Arsenal have is long-serving player Carl Jenkinson.

Fans might be thinking that the club will be dipping their hand into the market to sign someone, but the club seems to have a different way of going about things.

Bellerin snapped a ligament in his left leg and the indications are that he is about to miss anywhere between six and nine months. This is terrible news for the club as the Spaniard is one of the most important members of the Arsenal side and is integral to the way Unai Emery likes to play.

According to Express, this is what Emery had to say about the injury:

“It is his knee and the first prediction is it is an important [bad] injury,” Emery said. We have to wait until tomorrow, but first impressions are not positive.”

This gives Arsenal the chance to try other players in that position and Emery will be hoping that the internal solutions he has will work out.

Losing a player like Bellerin is a big blow for the Gunners but they will not have much time to think about it. With an important FA Cup game against Manchester United coming up, it is up to the team to show that they are ready for any kind of challenge.

Arsenal enter the race to sign highly-rated La Liga winger, not Suarez

Arsenal have reportedly joined AS Monaco in the race to pursue Gelson Martins on a temporary basis from Atletico Madrid for the season.

The Gunners had held an interest in the Portuguese during the summer before he secured the switch to Atleti from hometown club Sporting.

Since then, the attacker has not enjoyed the best of times with the Europa League holders with just one start in the Spanish top-flight and O Jogo claims that he is likely to be loaned out amid the impending arrival of Alvaro Morata.

It is added that the Gunners are in a straight fight with Thierry Henry’s Monaco to sign the Portugal international and Martins has the decision to make as to which kind of challenge he would prefer for the remainder of the season.

Arsenal are presently on the hunt for a new wide player and Martins certainly suits the requirements, given he is available on a temporary deal which the Gunners after for the current transfer window.

Nonetheless, the north London club are also said to be making progress towards signing Denis Suarez from Barcelona and the Spaniard could be favoured ahead of Martins, given his former association with Unai Emery at Sevilla.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have made no progress in terms of bolstering the backline and the same could remain the case for the rest of the window despite season-ending injuries for Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding.

Holding suffered an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury during the league clash versus Manchester United and the same seems to have hampered Bellerin against Chelsea, which leaves him sweating to return before the beginning of next term.

Arsenal can sign £20m-rated winger from Spanish giants on one condition

Denis Suarez

Spanish champions Barcelona are prepared to sanction Denis Suarez’s loan move to Arsenal this month, provided they are able to receive the assurance that the Gunners will recruit him on a permanent basis in the summer.

The Spain international is said to have made his mind up to join the Gunners this month but the deal has been holding up with the north London side yet to find the breakthrough in terms of the negotiations.

Speaking on The Transfer Talk Podcast h/t The Star, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has now revealed that the Gunners are keen on landing the former Villareal man on a temporary basis, although the Blaugrana are said to want the guarantee of a buy option.

It is added that the midfielder is keen on a reunion with Unai Emery at the Emirates but it remains to be seen whether the club are prepared to match the Blaugrana’s demands for an obligatory £20m buy clause for the summer.

Suarez possesses the versatility to feature in both the central midfield and wider attacking positions and he could be earmarked as a like-for-like replacement for Aaron Ramsey, who is expected to leave the club when his contract concludes in the summer.

As such, Emery appears keen on signing his compatriot in advance to get him acclimatised to Premier League football and the next few days should give a clear indication whether a breakthrough will be found.

Arsenal recently secured an impressive 2-0 triumph over Chelsea in the Premier League and this sees them within three points off the Champions League positions.

Next up, they are scheduled to face Manchester United in their home patch for an FA Cup fourth round tie on Friday night.

Arsenal boss drops update on Aaron Ramsey’s contract decision

Unai Emery

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has acknowledged that midfielder Aaron Ramsey has already made the decision to move on from the Gunners when the season comes to a close.

The Welshman has less than six months remaining on his existing deal with the north London club and he has already held an initial medical with Juventus ahead of the Bosman move in the summer.

Speaking in a press conference, covered by The Mirror, Emery admitted that the decision to not offer a contract to the Welshman was made more than three months ago.

He added that both the club and the player are satisfied with the final outcome and he is pleased that the midfielder is giving his best during the final few months of his Gunners deal.

“We spoke about the circumstance with Ramsey three months ago and now the decision is finished for him and for the club. I am very happy with him because in the last month his focus has been very clear,” he said.

Ramsey has been regularly used from the bench for the Premier League duties this term but Emery has shown the confidence of entrusting the midfielder with a starting role in the matches against the elite.

Most recently, the Welshman was entrusted with the role of man-marking Jorginho during the 2-0 derby triumph and he managed to do the job with good effect while restricting the passing range of the Italy international.

Arsenal switch their focus to FA Cup action on Friday night where they are scheduled to host Manchester United at the Emirates. Ramsey is among those likely to feature from the off after a solid display against Maurizio Sarri’s side last weekend.

‘No one deserves it more’, Arsenal fans on Twitter react after defender’s man of the match display

A section of the Arsenal fans were elated with the dominating performance of skipper Laurent Koscielny during the 2-0 Premier League triumph over Chelsea on Saturday evening.

The Frenchman was lined up alongside Sokratis Papastathopoulos in a two-man central defence to curb the Blues’ threat and he managed to make a vital impact on both ends of the field.

While Koscielny showed glimpses of his old self with key blocks and clearances, he was also effective on the opposite end of the pitch where he scored the second goal which handed the club a strong advantage they could hold onto.

Here are some of the best tweets;

A section of the Arsenal fans have been targeting Koscielny of late amid his average performances but that did not deter Emery from naming the centre-back for what was one of the club’s most important games of the campaign.

Koscielny, who had previously been struggling to get up to full fitness, produced a vintage performance but he was no doubt assisted by Sokratis effectively with the Greek coming up with vital interceptions while contributing the assist for the Frenchman’s goal, though the effort was meant to be a shot.

With the victory, the Gunners have moved within three points off fourth-placed Chelsea and Unai Emery will be hoping that the team can produce a similar showing for the forthcoming league games which certainly won’t be easy with an away trip to Manchester City scheduled next month.

Before that, however, they have an FA Cup fourth-round tie at home against Manchester United on Friday night and the manager should field the strongest possible lineup for the game, given the competition presents the best chance for the club to secure silverware.

Arsenal manager drops update on Denis Suarez speculation

Denis Suarez

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has refused to confirm whether the Gunners are looking to sign Denis Suarez in the aftermath of the derby league triumph over Chelsea on Saturday.

The Gunners faced a must-win game against the Blues to stay in the race for the top four and they managed to do with success after bagging a 2-0 win to reduce the deficit to just three points between them.

In a report covered by Arsenal.com, Emery was indirectly asked whether Suarez being left out of the Barcelona squad against Leganes has anything to do with the Gunners but the Spaniard refused to comment on the midfielder’s situation.

He said: “The club is working with many situations to help us. I cannot speak about individual players but I know the club is working with different possibilities if they can help us for these next four months.”

The Gunners boss has already confirmed that the club are restricted to temporary deals for the transfer window and that appears the case with Suarez, although there seems a stumbling block with regards to the demands.

Barcelona are willing to permit the departure of Suarez on a temporary basis to the north London side this month but they are understood to want an obligatory buy clause which has yet to be finalised between the clubs involved.

Arsenal’s focus will switch to the FA Cup fourth round on Friday night where they are scheduled to reignite their old rivalry with Manchester United, who have been resurgent under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Red Devils are on a seven-match winning streak across all competitions under Ole’s tutelage but the Gunners should be well prepared for the challenge after a resolute performance in the derby league win over Chelsea.
