Granit Xhaka put in a terrific display against France and Arsenal fans couldn’t hide their delight, with many of them urging the north London club not to sell the Switzerland captain.
The Swiss were down by two goals with just minutes remaining in the game, but they clawed their way back to make it 3-3. Vladimir Petkovic’s side came away victorious by virtue of penalties against the world champions with Kylian Mbappe being the only player who failed to convert his spot-kick.
Xhaka produced one of the best performances of his career, helping his team to the quarter-final for the first time in their history. The midfielder provided a glorious assist to Mario Gavranovic in the 90th minute.
The 28-year-old made 81 passes with a 93% accuracy rate. He also produced a few eye-catching long balls. However, the only disappointing bit from his performance was picking up a yellow card which will result in him missing the quarter-final clash against Spain.

An absolutely spectacular performance from Xhaka. Edu needs to demand an extra €5m just for that!

Arsenal Fever View:
Granit Xhaka is heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium and AS Roma is mentioned as the potential destination. The 28-year-old is capable of producing eye-catching performances every now and then.
However, the lack of discipline and consistency has restricted him from becoming a world-class midfielder. The Switzerland international also lacks athleticism which constricted him from flourishing in the Premier League, given the league’s high-intensity nature.
Serie A will be a perfect destination for the 28-year-old and under Jose Mourinho’s pragmatic style, the midfielder will get more protection to perform the free-flowing passing football.
From Arsenal’s perspective, it will be a good decision to cash in on the midfielder and use it to fund other transfers. The Gunners need reinforcements in the midfield, with multiple players linked with a move away from the Emirates club. They should go for an experienced midfielder to partner with Thomas Partey.
