‘Well deserved’, some Arsenal fans demand club to renew midfielder’s contract after Spurs win

Aaron Ramsey

Arsenal supporters have taken to Twitter to demand the club to extend the contract of midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The Wales international has been with the club for the past decade but his future remains largely uncertain with his contract expiring in seven months’ time.

Amidst this, Ramsey has found himself on the substitutes’ bench on a regular basis for the league duties but he managed to make a strong impact in the recent derby win over Tottenham.

The Welshman was brought onto the field at the break when the Gunners were trailing by a 2-1 scoreline and he managed to change the complexion with assists for the goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette to follow.

As such, a section of the faithful have been very impressed with the derby performance of the 27-year-old and they took to social media to urge the Gunners’ board to extend the  midfielder’s contract.

Ramsey has been frustrating with his tendency to lose possession of the ball in certain matches for the Gunners but his impact especially in the big games has made him an influential figure over the years.

Still, the Gunners hierarchy have shown no plans of revisiting contract discussions with the midfielder but it remains to be seen whether the Welshman can change this thought with performances of the same level on a consistent basis.

Ramsey has found himself behind the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi for the league duties of late but he could feature from the off when the Gunners tackle Manchester United on the road in the midweek Premier League encounter.
