Koscielny

It is a well-known fact that Arsenal have a long and tumultuous history when it comes to injuries. Every year, they have been affected by injuries suffered by key players that will invariably cause a problem during the season.

So, fans will be happy to know that one of the long-term injured players in captain Laurent Koscielny was spotted training with the first team.

The injury suffered by the Arsenal captain was very unfortunate as it derailed the Europa League campaign of the Gunners as well as robbing Koscielny the chance to win the World Cup.

This season, it must be noted that Arsenal are a little light when it comes to center backs especially with the captain’s injury and the loan move of Calum Chambers.

Now, with Koscielny set to return to the fold, it will be a big boost to the club and will help the defense out immensely. This is also a big season for the Frenchman as it is his first season as the club skipper in the wake of Per Mertesacker’s retirement.

He will definitely have a point to prove to all the doubters and that will surely spur him on. This coupled with his age means that this will be a make or break season for the man fans affectionately call Lolo.

One factor that will help the Gunners is that Koscielny has announced his retirement from International football which means that he will be able to fully focus on club duties.

Though it is sad that his international career had to end this way, it will make it easier for him to focus on his career with the Gunners.

Koscielny is one player who has performed at a very high level for many seasons now and it will make the fans very happy if he contributes to the success of the team once again. Keeping the defense fit and firing is very important to anything that Arsenal plan to do. The experience and leadership of the Frenchman will be a huge asset to the team as well.
