The controversy surrounding Mesut Ozil and his retirement from the German national team has left many people feeling that the midfielder was wronged.
But, even though it was Ozil’s birthday, not many people were expecting a message from the German team but they did have one.
Some people were not buying this message as the team had so far done nothing to show that they were supporting the player. There were others who thought that this was a gesture of goodwill and that it should not be made into a big deal.

It has to be noted that the German team has struggled in the matches that they have played after the retirement of Ozil. But, there does not seem to be any indication that he is thinking of coming back to the team.
Ozil recently signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners and he has had an impressive start to the season. Even though he has not often played in his favored position, he has helped the team a lot.
It seems that manager Unai Emery and the German are getting to know each other better and as the season goes on, the contribution from the midfielder is going to improve significantly. The Gunners are going to need that as they are fighting in four competitions at the moment.
The way that the international career of Ozil ended was unfortunate but that has given him the chance to focus more on his time with the Gunners. This should be a big help for both the player as well as the club. He has shown time and again that he can have a big influence on a match and for that alone, he deserves to be in the team.
