Ozil and Aubameyang start, 4-3-2-1: Strongest Predicted Arsenal XI to face Man City

Mesut Ozil

Arsenal will seek to avenge their recent League Cup final defeat to Manchester City when they entertain them in the Premier League tonight.

TheGunners were outclassed by the Citizens, who picked up a comfortable 3-0 win last weekend, and the fans will surely expect a strong response, given the home advantage.

Formation: 4-3-2-1

Lineup:

Petr Cech has not featured for the Gunners since the north London derby defeat in early February. The veteran is expected to retain the number one role ahead of David Ospina, now that the club are back to Premier League duties.

In defence, we are anticipating a change to the four-at-the-back formation, and hence, Calum Chambers should make way, after his rather dismal performance last weekend.

Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi are viable candidates to start in the central defence, whilst Hector Bellerin and probably Ainsley Maitland-Niles will feature in the right and left-back positions respectively.

The ploy of playing Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere versus City backfired especially in the defensive point of view, and we are fancying Mohamed Elneny to start in a three-man midfield with Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey featuring alongside him.

Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will have the opportunity to revive their partnership for the first time in nearly three weeks, and the pair are likely to feature behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who should lead the line once again.

The Gabon international appeared to distinctly lack match fitness during the Cup final against City, and it will be interesting to see how he copes with Pep Guardiola’s side at the Emirates, where they are likely to field a different centre-back partnership.
