Injured Arsenal star confirms he is ‘coming back soon’ on social media

Mkhitaryan

Arsenal attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan has dropped a fitness update on his official Twitter account where he has indicated that he is close to making a comeback with the first-team.

The Armenia international sustained a fractured metatarsal in mid-December and his absence has reduced the attacking depth of the squad with Welbeck already sidelined for the campaign.

However, the former United man has now dropped a positive fitness update after running on an anti-gravity treadmill while hinting that he may not be far off from returning to the field.

Despite this, Arsenal are unlikely to take any risks with the fitness of the Armenian and he may have to wait until the start to February in order to return to full training alongside his teammates.

Meanwhile, the reduced attacking options seem to have pushed the Gunners into doing business this month, although a loan deal remains the sole route after Unai Emery confirmed the lack of funds for a permanent move for any player.

Arsenal could not continue with their winning ways on Saturday after they suffered a disappointing and rare defeat at the hands of West Ham United on the road.

The result has certainly not done them any favours with the gap to fourth-placed Chelsea increasing to six points after the Blues secured a 2-1 triumph over Newcastle United.

Arsenal’s next league game comes against Maurizio Sarri’s team at the Emirates next weekend and the players certainly need to turn up with a victory to keep the top four hopes alive.
