Arsenal legend urges the club to sign this 25-year-old attacker

Wilfried Zaha

Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit Ian Wright has urged his former club to bring 25-year-old winger Wilfried Zaha to the Emirates.

The winter transfer window is just a few days away and the tension at the Emirates is souring. Ozil and Sanchez are yet to put pen to paper and unless something changes drastically, both players are expected to leave the North London club this January.

Wright’s comments assume importance given that the Gunners are grappling with the possible departures of two of their biggest stars this transfer window and Arsenal have no other option but to scour the transfer market for possible replacements.

The Arsenal legend rates the Ivorian winger highly on his abilities and quality. Speaking to Sky Sports, Ian Wright was quoted as saying:

“I know Spurs linked and I think Arsenal been linked and they should be. Ability-wise, he’s easily good enough for Arsenal.

“To play in a certain system is different as he’s a bit of a maverick.”

Although, he has some concerns regarding Zaha leaving crystal palace. He added:

“I believe Zaha is someone who loves it there. If he moves on would they understand him with the way he plays?”

“Would he fit in with someone else’s style in the way Palace has him play exactly the way he wants?” Wilf has a decision to make. If he carries on playing like that, then teams will want him.”

Wilfried Zaha has been one of the top performers for Crystal Palace in the recent past winning their player of the year award two years in a row and the Eagles have extended the youngsters contract by signing him on a five-year contract on May 26, 2017.

With a host of Premier League clubs in line to secure his signature, the Gunners will have to dig deep to bring him to the Emirates. But with the possibility of Sanchez leaving for rivals Manchester city looming high, the urgency to secure his service is nothing less of a necessity.
