‘I don’t call the shots on his career’, Vardy’s wife appears to confirm Arsenal move

Jamie Vardy

It seems Vardy’s move to Arsenal is inching closer by the minute if we go by the statements of Jamie Vardy’s wife.

Reports over the past few days have stated that the Gunners have made a bid for the Englishman which triggers a release clause in his contract.

Now Vardy’s wife Rebekah has reacted to the Leicester fans abuse relating to Arsenal’s £20 million bid and she more or less appears to confirm that her husband in favour of the move.

Here is the tweet from her official Twitter handle.

Listen LCFC fans don’t come at me with abuse!

I have nothing whatsoever to do with calling the shots in my husband’s career! Its unfair

The tweet seems to be her reply to Leicester fans angry rants, but if we look closely she seems to suggest that Vardy’s decisions in his professional life are nothing to do with her.

Which more or less means that the England striker has taken a decision pertaining to his professional life. With Arsenal putting in a bid just a few days back, it feels that the decision is related to Arsenal move.

It all seems a bit too quick for a transfer to happen but considering the circumstances it makes a lot of sense. The player already has a release clause which means that once it is activated the club are no longer involved.

The other thing is the discussions with the player relating to the contract and with Euro’s fast approaching the decision was Vardy’s to take and it seems he has decided to take up a new challenge with the Gunners.

It is a great move from Arsene Wenger because we dearly needed a striker and Vardy did show last season that he is the best in England. He is ageing fast, but the striker started his career late so the best is yet to come.

Roy Hodgson has given the players until Monday to sort out their futures before they join the national team and expect to hear an official announcement from Arsenal before that deadline.
