Arsenal ready to complete £40m transfer deal for 29-year-old attacker

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to part ways with Alexis Sanchez this month, provided any club are willing to match their £40m valuation for the attacker.

The Chile international has entered the final six month of his Gunners contract, and his representative is free to discuss a pre-contract agreement with a foreign side this month.

According to Evening Standard, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger could sanction the sale of Sanchez during the transfer window with the Chilean seemingly reluctant to pen term over a proposed extension beyond the summer.

Despite this, the north London giants are said to demand a minimum transfer fee of around £40m with Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool credited with an interest in the versatile attacker.

Pep Guardiola’s side are, for now, favourites to pursue the Chilean following a knee injury to Gabriel Jesus, but the club feel the valuation is too high for a player, who could be available for a Bosman in five months’ time.

Sanchez has shown glimpses of his old self in recent outings for the Gunners, but there is a suggestion that he may be stepping up his game in order to push for a potential exit from the Emirates.

Wenger surprisingly chose to rest the Chilean among several first-team regulars for the FA Cup defeat at Nottingham Forest, and this is likely to be of benefit for the Citizens with the attacker likely to be eligible to feature Cup competition as well as the Champions League.

Arsenal are currently in a tight fix in regards to the contract situations of both Mesut Ozil and Sanchez, and it may not come as a huge surprise, should one of the pair, most probably Sanchez leave before the end of the month.
