Arsenal linked with surprising move for Mario Balotelli

In a shock turn of events, Arsenal are now being linked with 27-year-old Mario Balotelli.

The Italian International’s future is unclear at his current club, OGC Nice and reportedly a group of European clubs are all interested in bringing the want-away player in.

Gazzetta dello sport is reporting that Balotelli might be eyeing up a move back to the Serie A, Arsenal are seen as a side with a real chance of signing the player along with French club Marseille and German team Borussia Dortmund. It further states that all the fore-mentioned club could bid for the star in the coming months.

Scoring 26 goals and grabbing 2 assists for Nice, the €10 million forward has had a remarkable season for Nice and has proved many of his critics wrong after being ruled out of joining many sides due to his controversial actions.

His brilliant performance this season has earned him a place in the Italian national team, scoring on his return after just 21 minutes.

Many Arsenal fans may be questioning new Manager Unai Emery if he does pursue the former Manchester City player given Arsenal’s strong attacking options in Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

With a deal set to be announced shortly on the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund, fans are sure that the new manager is trying to rebuild Arsenal’s defence after a poor defensive season for the Gunners.

Conceding a huge 51 goals in the Premier League, more than any other top 6 side, defensive changes have to be made at the North London club and this is what is clearly happening in this summer’s transfer window.

Now Arsenal may be looking to sign Seasoned Morrocan center back Mehdi Benatia from Italian giants Juventus. It is clear Unai Emery and the new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat are attempting to build an experienced defence with the leadership the Gunner’s have lacked in recent seasons.
