Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham could make a surprise switch to cross-city rivals Arsenal, should he fail to break into Antonio Conte’s side next season.

The England Under-21 international had a top campaign on loan with Bristol City where he amassed an impressive tally of 23 goals in the Championship – second to only to Leeds United’s Chris Wood.

Abraham’s showing has also attracted interest from former champions Leicester City, and he could be on the move this summer with Conte not fully convinced of his abilities.

According to The Sun, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger could plot a raid on the highly-rated striker this summer as he plans to add more options to his frontline ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Abraham has already earned plaudits for his excellent awareness in front of goal this term, and Wenger believes the youngster has the perfect characteristics to succeed at the Emirates.

The youngster would preferably remain at the Premier League holders next season, but the lack of first-team football at the highest level could urge him to switch to a fresh club this summer.

The London rivals have recently done business with each other with Petr Cech having ended his long-term association with Chelsea in 2014 for a move to Arsene Wenger’s side.

Blues boss Antonio Conte has not overdone his options in the centre-forward department, and this could hinder the future prospects of Abraham, who will be behind the likes of Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi in the pecking order.

Arsenal maintained their quest to attain a top-four finish to the Premier League after they earned a comfortable 2-0 win over relegated Sunderland on Tuesday night.

The victory sees them just a point behind fourth-placed Liverpool, who will have to drop points against Middlesbrough in the final game of the season in order to push the north London club into the Champions League places.
