£78m hitman wants Arsenal move, expected to skip training

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have an article in their Wednesday edition on Gonzalo Higuain and his current state of mind.

Gonzalo Higuain

According to MetroGonzalo Higuain is considering a move to Arsenal after he split with long-time girlfriend Lara Wechsler.

He is apparently trying to keep out of all the problems regarding his football life handing over  every responsibility to his brother Nicolas and father Jorge.

Gazzetta dello Sport have previously written  an article in which they said that Higuain would accept a move to Arsenal or PSG, also said to be interested.

For Napoli, Higuain moving to a club outside of Italy is a much preferred option than moving to an arch rival in the Serie A, such as Juventus.

Arsenal are reportedly  in pole position as Higuain’s first preference is Arsenal and Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis is reluctant to sell Higuain to their Seria-A rival Juventus.

Arsenal are said to have put forward an offer last week of £42million plus Olivier Giroud, but Napoli have claimed this is not the case.

Calcio Mercato are claiming that Higuain could miss training with the team on July 25th because he’s ‘not keen’ on turning up. Presumably because he wants a move, not just because he can’t be bothered.

Higuain is valued at £78m, a fee that Arsenal have,  in recent weeks refused to meet.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis has said:

The only offer I’ve had was from Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo a month ago and I told him we wouldn’t do it.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is expected to meet with Napoli officials today and deliver a formal offer for the Argentine.

Arsenal’ chief scout Neil Banfield spoke with Italian website, Gonfia la Rete, and was asked about the transfer rumours. He said,

I cannot say that it is true and I can not say that it is false.

What is certain is that Arsenal have liked Higuain since he was at Real Madrid and Wenger wanted to take him to London back then.

Higuain has some huge clubs after him and he’s ready to accept a move.

Still, finances may well prove a problem, with Arsenal unlikely to go to the figures that Napoli are demanding. There may well have to be some compromises if Higuain has his mind set on a move away from Napoli and towards the Emirates (Hopefully!)

The article that came in Gazetta dello sport, is shared below.

Is Gonzalo Higuain worth the money Napoli are demanding for him? How good is Higuain?
