Stuttgart defender tells club he wants to sign for Arsenal

Predicted Arsenal Line-up

This transfer window has been full of different defenders being linked to Arsenal, with Caglar Soyuncu and Sokratis arguably looking most likely to sign.

Now, the £44m valued French international and Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard has told insiders at his club that he wants a move to the Emirates this summer according to CalcioInsider.

The 22-year-old has been a key player for Stuttgart this season, making 36 appearances for the Bundesliga team. Naturally a right-back, Stuttgart have shuffled the youngster around different positions but has largely played as a center back this season.

The defender has also made 4 appearances for the extremely competitive France senior national team. Now, at 22, the player is going to the World Cup with the French side this summer, once again showing he has the quality to play for a top side like Arsenal.

French outlet L’Equipe have linked the player with a move to London, but have written that the Arsenal are competing with Borussia Dortmund to sign the young talent.

At £44m, the transfer would be using a huge portion of new manager Unai Emery’s transfer budget, rumoured to be around £70m.

Arsenal fans may be savouring the prospect of a big-money signing this summer, hopefully fixing some of the problems the Gunner’s defence have experienced in the past few seasons.

The Gunners conceded a huge 51 goals in the Premier League last season, the most of any top 6 sides, it is now well known a complete defensive reshuffle is underway at the Emirates, with Unai Emery and head of recruitment Sven Mislintat taking the lead to bring in new defensive talent.

It is an exciting time to be an Arsenal fan, with no one really knowing which direction Unai Emery will take the club, saying this, fans must be excited for the season ahead knowing a large number of big names have been engaged in talks with the club.
