“Won’t dare, Good move”, Some Arsenal fans remain divided over Aubameyang rumours

Aubameyang

Arsenal will reportedly listen to offers for their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, as per The Telegraph and the rumours have left Gunners fans in a sense of dilemma.

The 31-year-old signed for the Emirates club back in 2018 for a club-record transfer fee of £56 million. Since then, the Gabon international has been involved in 104 goals in just 148 appearances[via transfermarkt].

However, the former Dortmund striker has been a shadow of his former self in the recently concluded season having just scored 15 goals across all competitions. This has raised questions over his long-term future at the club.

The Telegraph are reporting that Arsenal would be willing to listen to offers for their star striker. The Gabonese international is one of the club’s highest earners after signing a lucrative deal last September which goes on until 2023.

Prominent journalist Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that the north Londoners would be willing to let go of their striker if a good offer comes in. Speaking to The Arsenal Lounge, he said:

“To be honest, I think that he is one of the players that with a good proposal – and when I say good, it has to be an important proposal, not just good – I would say an important proposal, he has chances to leave.

But, at the moment, I am told that they don’t consider the player as a problem, let’s say like that. If something big happens, they are open, but if not, the player Is 100% staying, and they are happy with him.”

Arsenal Fever View:

Many fans seem unhappy with the prospect of losing a player of Aubameyang’s caliber. The Gunners are preparing for a summer overhaul with several potential exits this summer and a big offer might tempt the North London club to cash in on the striker who has entered the latter stages of his career and use the funds to bring in a young forward.

Aubameyang is a proven goalscorer and has been a major source of goals for the Emirates side in recent seasons. Despite his poor run of games, the Gabonese star is still considered one of the best finishers in world football.

He thrives on pacey runs behind the opposition’s defence and the Gunners have failed to create enough chances for him to pounce on. With better service, he is still as capable as ever of putting them away.

The Arsenal captain did have a disappointing season going by his standards but the club shouldn’t be in a rush to offload the striker as it would be difficult to replace a natural and instinctive finisher like Aubameyang.
