Various reports are coming in claiming that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace star, Wilfried Zaha. The Crystal Palace forward is potentially being targeted by Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal according to reports in Mirror.
The 25-year-old forward has had a good season given that Palace will finish in the lower half of the table. He is the second top scorer for Palace this season, scoring 8 goals in 28 appearances and won April’s Premier League Player of the Month award.
In 2016 Tottenham Hotspur had two bids rejected for the forward and are wanting to make a new bid once the transfer window is underway.
The player has said in the past that he is committed to playing at Crystal Palace but claimed he cannot confirm his future at the club if the ‘top 6’ teams start bidding for him.
Although Arsenal are very much in the race for the player, it is believed that a new manager must be in place before any talks start. This is so the player can fully understand his role at the club. Arsenal will surely be missing Arsene Wenger’s uncanny ability to secure young talent for brilliant prices in the summer.
Given his silky dribbling and sometimes ankle-breaking skills he would be a perfect player to support Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Both strikers are prolific as poachers but are often seen to struggle when there is a lack of support.
The former chairman of Crystal palace believes that the player is worth “£50million to £70million” and the club have stated they don’t want to sell him. His contract is currently running until 2022. With the Premier League’s elites all looking to buy him, his price will surely only rise higher.
While his signing would surely make next season’s Arsenal team much more prolific, many commentators are asking whether an attacking player is what the club needs after the signing of Aubameyang and Lacazette, many feel it would be more beneficial to provide a strong Center-Back or a Defensive midfielder instead.
