Arsenal fell to their third defeat in four league outings following their 3-1 humbling at the hands of Liverpool over the weekend.
The Gunners fans received a shocker on Saturday evening after Alexis Sanchez started from the bench, but it was the player whom the Chilean replaced at half-time – Francis Coquelin, who got some stick for his showing.
Coquelin has largely been average alongside Granit Xhaka over the past couple of outings, and this has urged the fans to question his future despite him signing a fresh four-year deal in January 2017.
Here are the best Twitter reactions from the weekend just past:
Coquelin has been garbage. I don't remember the last time he has had a good game. #Coquelin

#Coquelin is only 25 maybe another loan deal or to be sold. #people don't seem to like #xhaka it is only his first season in England. #afc

How #Coquelin gets picked week in week out confuses me. Always gets found out in the big games…average footballer. #AFC

Agree that something has to change! But putting #alexis on the bench is not the answer! And for me time is up for #Coquelin

Though the opinion is divided among the fans, the Gunners appear to hold a 100 percent win record when Coquelin does not take part for the club. He’s a Gooner wanting the Frenchman out.

Arsene Wenger’s side are currently two points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool with a game in hand over Southampton, who can not be taken likely after pushing Manchester United until the end in the 3-2 defeat in the EFL Cup final.
Next, the Gunners host Bayern Munich in the Champions League, last-16, second leg, on Tuesday night, and they will be hoping to keep things tight in order to prevent further humiliation after the 5-1 mauling at the Allianz Arena earlier last month.
Arsenal have had a recent history of turning up in the second-leg of the elite competition, but the chances of clinching a 4-0 victory look negligible, given Bayern’s excellent strikeforce which could be further encouraged by Wenger’s persistence with Coquelin in the center of the park.
