Theo Walcott claims Aaron Ramsey will be keen on Arsenal return

Theo Walcott has told talkSPORT that Aaron Ramsey would be more than willing to join his former club Arsenal.

The Welshman joined the Gunners in the summer of 2008 and went on to make a mark for himself in north London. The 30-year-old played a crucial role in helping the club win three FA Cups, scoring the winner in two of those finals.

Ramsey, who left on a free transfer in 2019 to Italian giants Juventus, has not found a regular starting spot. He has also had a few injury issues similar to his time with the Emirates club.

The Express are claiming that the Wales international wants to return to the Premier League in January. When asked if his former teammate would like to come back to the Emirates, Walcott told talkSPORT:

“Do you know what, it would be lovely, it would be fantastic for him to come back to the Premier League. I feel like he would want to, definitely, and some part of me in my head is thinking he would love to come back to Arsenal. I just do, something about that would tick a box. But obviously it’s one of those things.”

The current Southampton player also spoke about the central midfielder’s recent performances for his country as he added:

“He’s at Juventus, he played very well for Wales last night, so it’s really good to see. Obviously, I think a lot of people have been on his back in Italy, I haven’t seen enough of it so I can’t really comment on that. But for me he’s a leader, he’s a workhorse, he’s still playing for his country, he’s got so many caps.”

Arsenal Fever View:

If Arsenal were to make a move for Ramsey, it would add some much-needed cover in midfield. With Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny set to leave for AFCON, and Granit Xhaka returning from injury later on, it leaves the club a little light in central midfield.

There is a possibility that the north Londoners would have to make do with just Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ainsley Maitland Niles. But adding the current Juventus player to this mix would give the club some experience and quality.

The only factor that could hold up this potential move for Ramsey is his injury record. But if the Gunners can put together a deal that suits all parties, there could be a welcome return for the man affectionately known as Rambo.
