Sky Sports journalist reveals Arsenal are still very close to Kieran Tierney deal

Kieran Tierney is a target that Arsenal have been chasing for some time now and as per Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, the Gunners are very close to agreeing a deal with Celtic.

He took to Twitter to provide some clarification on the deal and he said:

‘Difference between what Arsenal are offering for Kieran Tierney and what Celtic want is “only a couple of million pounds”. Player is happy at Celtic but would like the chance to speak to Arsenal if deal can be agreed.

This is very good news for the London club as they have already made a couple of bids for Tierney and that is an indication of how much they want him at the Emirates. He is an exciting addition and at the age of 22, he has many years left in him so it will be very beneficial for the Arsenal defense to have him at the club.

Celtic are demanding a fee in the region of £25m but the problem has been with the way that the North London club have structured the deal. This has caused problems in the negotiations so far with the Scottish club wanting more money upfront for their star defender.

Arsenal’s failure to qualify for the Champions League has really impacted their transfer budget in a bad way and that has made deals such as the one for Tierney a little more complicated than it would have been. Sorting out the defense is one of the most important tasks that Arsenal manager Unai Emery has on his hand.

The potential arrival of Tierney will make sure that the left-hand side of the Gunners defense is taken care of for years to come. It would also allow Nacho Monreal to play in a more central role and that will really benefit Emery if and when he chooses to use a 3 man backline.

As the difference between the two clubs is only a couple of millions of pounds, fans will be hoping that the deal can be concluded in a swift manner. There isn’t a lot of time left in the transfer window so Arsenal will have to move quickly.
