Sead Kolasinac looking to terminate his Arsenal contract, claims journalist

Sead Kolasinac

Sead Kolasinac is reportedly looking to terminate his contract with Arsenal, as per Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur.

The north London club signed the 28-year-old back in 2017 from FC Schalke. He made 113 appearances for the Emirates club, scoring five goals in this process.

During his time at the club, the Bosnian assisted the Emirates club to a couple of Cup trophies. But, the first-team appearances have dried up since the arrival of Mikel Arteta and the defender was sent out on loan in the second half of last season.

According to Ekrem Konur, Sead Kolasinac is willing to terminate his contract with Arsenal. The 28-year-old has offers from many Bundesliga clubs and Turkish club Fenerbahce are also monitoring his situation.

Arsenal Fever View:

The Bosnian international has only one year remaining on his current contract and letting him leave this summer with mutual consent might be the right decision for both parties, given his current position in the squad.

From a business perspective, this move will be a blow as the north Londoners won’t receive any fee, but this will obliterate the defender from the wage bill. So, it’s a decent bargain.

The 28-year-old failed to showcase his talent in the Premier League. He lacked the necessary qualities on both ends of the pitch and also lacked consistency in his game.

The Gunners have found an excellent replacement in Kieran Tierney who is effective on both ends of the pitch. However, the 24-years-old’s injury record has forced the north London club to find a suitable backup.

Sead Kolasinac’s departure will free up space for new signings. The Gunners are looking for a squad overhaul this summer and are linked with numerous players. The Emirates club are closing in on deals for Nuno Tavares and Sambi Lokonga, while they also eyeing a move for Brighton defender Ben White.
