‘Same lies’ – Arsenal fans react to transfer comments from Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was talking to the press ahead of their Premier League opener against Brentford. He spoke about a variety of topics including what the club had done so far this summer.

The north London club have made three signings so far, with Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White arriving this summer. There are rumours of transfer moves for other players and there is a chance that someone will come in before the end of the window.

When Mikel Arteta was asked about what he thought of business so far, the boss said(as per Arsenal official website):

“Well, in this first period of the transfer window I think we’ve done a few things we wanted to do and it’s going to help us to get the squad in a much better place. There is still a bit of the window to go, so I’m sure things will happen either way.”

This comment drew some frustrated responses from fans of the Emirates club. They were unhappy with the boss and expressed their feelings on Twitter. Here are some of the best reactions:

Despite bringing in three players, there is a lot of work left to do for the Gunners who need an attacking midfielder. Rumours have been swirling around regarding a move for James Maddison and Martin Odegaard.

Getting someone for this position is of utmost importance given how big a problem it was last season. There is also the need to bring in a backup goalkeeper to help Bernd Leno and that has not been taken care of yet.

Arteta has until the end of the month to take care of the squad and give it a facelift. If the Spaniard fails to deliver, it is only going to increase the level of resentment the fans are feeling at the moment.

The hope is that Arsenal are working on transfers behind the scenes and will be able to improve the quality of the squad. If they cannot do that, it will make it harder and harder to catch up with those ahead of them.
