Ray Parlour urges Arsenal to sign Marcus Rashford in the summer

Arsenal

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes the club should make a move for Marcus Rashford in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old rose through the ranks of the Manchester United academy and made his professional debut for the club in 2016. Since then, he has scored 59 goals in 197 Premier League appearances. However, the Englishman has been enduring a tough period now, having started just two games in 2022.

Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Rashford’s contract situation at United earlier this week. He claimed the England international is considering his future at the club after being concerned about his lack of game time recently.

Parlour insists the north Londoners would be amongst the clubs inquiring about him in the summer. The former player has claimed that he would love to see him don the Arsenal shirt.

He acknowledged that the United man is going through a rough patch right now but would fit the bill at the Emirates, especially with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nkietiah out of contracts in the summer. While speaking on TalkSport, the Highbury icon said:

“Marcus Rashford is going through a bit of a bad spell but he’s a top player. I am sure lots of clubs will be enquiring about Marcus Rashford if he was available in the summer. Certainly Arsenal, I would love him to come to Arsenal.

“That’s the position Arsenal need to look at this summer, it’s vital for the club. I don’t think he would be because United would be mad to sell him. But if he is available then Arsenal would definitely be interested.”

Arsenal Fever View:

As Parlour said Rashford would not be short of any transfer offers going into the summer transfer window. He reportedly earns £200K-a-week and his contract does not run out until 2023. So, it would require a lucrative offer from the Gunners to take him away.

While the Englishman is capable of filling in any attacking role, he is not a proven goal scorer while being deployed as an out-and-out striker. The Gunners are in dire need of a natural striker who can provide them with vital goals. Therefore, signing him would be a huge gamble.

The north Londoners have to be in the market for an instinctive goalscorer. With players like Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard playing in the deeper roles, plenty of chances will be created. The Gunners need to buy a player who is capable of them away on a regular basis.
