Arsenal take on Everton in the final game of the Premier League campaign knowing that a win could enhance their slim chances of achieving a top-four spot.
The north London club currently trail Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool by a solitary point, and it will take a huge effort from relegated Middlesbrough in order to contain the Reds on Sunday afternoon.
Gunner boss Arsene Wenger gave an injury update earlier in the day and it appears that both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Laurent Koscielny could miss out on this weekend’s clash with the latter likely to have a late fitness test to determine his probable inclusion.
With the key FA Cup final scheduled against Chelsea next weekend, Wenger is unlikely to unnecessary risks on his injured pair with ‘The Ox’ in particular, being hugely influential in their semi-final triumph over Manchester City.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Lineup:
Petr Cech has calmed some of his critics with a couple of sound performances between the sticks. He is a certainty to start over the weekend with David Ospina likely to have played his final game in the Gunners shirt – for this season at least.
The backline is likely to remain unchanged from the previous outing with Hector Bellerin and Kieran Gibbs starting in the wing-back positions whilst the likes of Rob Holding, Shkodran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal will feature at the heart of the defence.
Moving forward, Granit Xhaka impressed with his long-range crossing against the Black Cats, and he could once again accompany Aaron Ramsey who has been deemed fit after overcoming a knock from midweek.
The new 3-4-2-1 formation has brought out the best of Mesut Ozil recently with three goals/assists to boost in his last three outings. He will be partnered alongside top-scorer Alexis Sanchez, who has managed 23 goals in the Premier League campaign.
Upfront, it is normally a choice between Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud, and Wenger could go with the former in order to add more pace to the frontline.
