William Saliba to undergo medical today as Arsenal agree transfer deal

Arsenal Players

William Saliba the young French center back who plays for Saint Etienne is set to undergo his medical ahead of a move to Arsenal, according to Daily Mail.

The Emirates club agreed a £27m deal with Saint Etienne a few days back and Saliba will head back to France on loan after signing with the London club as he will spend another season in his home country to further expand his football career.

The North London club were able to pull off the deal even though they were facing some last-minute competition from their bitter rivals Tottenham. Saliba preferred to move to the red side of North London and Unai Emery’s side will surely be happy that he ended up doing that.

Saliba is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in the world and is expected to become one of the best center backs of the world in the near future. Getting him was a real coup for the club as his price would have definitely doubled by the end of the 2019/20 season as more and more clubs become aware of his talent.

The 2018/19 season was a real breakthrough campaign for Saliba who became an important member of the Saint Etienne team that went on to have one of the best defensive records in the French first division. And the fact that Etienne wanted Saliba is proof of how highly rated he is at the club.

It is not ideal for the Emirates club that they will not have Saliba this season as the club are struggling with defensive issues of their own. It would have been beneficial for manager Unai Emery to have the youngster at the club but he will have to make do without him for the time being.

Arsenal have made a good decision by deciding to invest in Saliba as he is one for the future. Fans should be excited to know that the Gunners will have a real talent on their hands.

All that is left for the official announcement to be made and Saliba will finally be a Gunner for real. We will have to make do with seeing him in France but it promises to be exciting times ahead.
