There are many youngsters that join Arsenal and try to make a name for themselves. Every year, we see someone join from another club or step up from the youth teams.
Yassin Fortune is one player who joined the club three years ago. At the time, he was a highly regarded prospect and expected to break into the team very soon. Alas, this has not been the case and he has now left the club.
During his stay at the Emirates, he did not make a single appearance for the Gunners. Though it must be mentioned that he did impress for the youth teams on occasion. The player has now joined Swiss club FC Sion, who have officially confirmed the transfer.
The player has signed a 4-year contract with the Swiss club and will don jersey number 25. It is not easy for a young player to make a mark at such a competitive level. There is so much competition for a few spots that you will have to be exceptional to be noticed.
A major reason for these young players such as Yassin joining Arsenal is their track record with youth. This was especially true during the Arsene Wenger era.
The Frenchman was well renowned for his ability to nurture youth into successful players and the likes of Cesc Fabregas are a testament to this.
The squad that Arsenal have at the moment is stacked with quality particularly in the attacking end of the pitch. The likes of Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and even Alex Iwobi have established themselves.
This makes it very hard for someone like Yassin to break through. It is a little sad that the fans never really got a glimpse of the player’s talent.
It is understandable that he wanted to move elsewhere. After all, every player wants to play every match. This is the primary reason for the transfer of Yassin. He is expected to become an important member at his new club. Arsenal and the fans of the club will surely like to wish the player the best of luck.
