Mustafi, who has featured 12 times for Germany, has played in England before, enjoying a brief stint at Everton. He did not make any first-team appearances for the side during his time there, eventually transferring to Sampdoria and then Valencia.
He is a tough tackler, filling in for Mats Hummels in one of Germany’s first games in the Euros. He has been often called a great overall central defender who is a quick first tackler, someone who could play well with a high-lying, mobile and ball playing partner such as Laurent Koscielny.
The Gunners are in need of someone who can help shield Petr Cech against quick, counter-attacking teams in the premier league in the months to come. Per Mertesacker is injured till January, while Gabriel Paulista is at least 6 to 8 weeks away from complete recovery.
Arsenal are in serious trouble with central defenders, there is no doubt about that. Do you think Mustafi signing will solve the Gunners defensive issues?
