Mesut Ozil reacts to Jack Wilshere’s Arsenal exit

Mesut Ozil

The expected departure of Jack Wilshere has understandably left many people related to Arsenal feeling a little sad about the whole thing.

And one among them, is the Gunners’ star playmaker, Mesut Ozil who had posted his own message for the departing Englishman.

The German took to his Twitter account and tweeted a photo of the both of them with the following caption:

“A true Gunner is leaving @Arsenal. Good luck on your next adventure bro @JackWilshere #YaGunnersYa #COYG”

One particular phrase in that message just about sums up how, many of us feel about Wilshere and his association with the club.

The words True Gunner cannot be applied to just about everyone but the fact that he has been at the club since the age of 9 makes him eligible.

As was reported earlier, despite a new contract being offered to the 26-year-old midfielder, it was the fact that he did not receive any guarantee on his playing time that proved to be the factor that drove him to this decision. New manager Unai Emery does value him as a squad member but did not think he was as important as some of the other midfielders in the squad.

In many ways, this is the best decision that Wilshere could have taken for the sake of his career but it is nonetheless sad to see such a player not reach his full potential.

Ask any Arsenal and most football fans and they will swear that Wilshere had all it took to become one of the best midfielders of his generation. But, recurring injury problems which prevented him from gaining any sort of momentum, hampered his progress a lot.

The season that just ended showed us glimpses of the player he once was and led many to believe that he had turned a corner. Alas, the alliance that had lasted so long is coming to its end and those at the club will surely like to wish him the best of luck.
