Arsenal legend, Martin Keown, has urged his former club to sign Adama Traore in the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018 on the back of an impressive season with Middlesbrough. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in the club’s progress, and has been involved in over 150 matches across all competitions.
The Spaniard has been on top of his game in recent seasons and has attracted interest from several clubs around Europe. Tottenham are reportedly the frontrunners to sign the attacker this month, with the head coach, Antonio Conte, keen on bolstering his squad to compete for a place in the Champion League.
Keown believes that Arsenal should enter the transfer race for Traore and secure his signature, following his goal during Wolves’ victory against Southampton on Saturday. He lauded the attacker’s overall performance and his finishing.
The Arsenal icon seems to be completely impressed with the Spaniard’s abilities and has urged Mikel Arteta to sign him. While speaking on BBC’s Final Score, the 55-year-old said:
“I feel Traore is awesome at times, and just for once, we have the satisfaction of seeing it. It’s a lovely finish from him. I’d sign him if I was a manager. Arsenal – get in and buy him!”
Arsenal Fever View:
The Wolves star is, undoubtedly, one of the most talented wingers in the Premier League. His electrifying pace and physical strength almost make him impossible to defend. And the forward would be an excellent addition to the Arsenal squad.
However, the Gunners are in search of a pure striker this transfer window. They already have young prospects like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in their ranks, who have been in scintillating form this campaign. The duo has cemented their spots on the flanks, contributing a major part to the club’s recent resurrection.
The north Londoners have prioritized the signing of a goal scorer and although Traore is a constant threat to the opposition defense through his dribbling, he has failed to be sharp in front of the goal. In fact, his goal against Saints on Saturday was his maiden goal this season.
If Arsenal enter the fray to sign the winger, it will only result in a bidding war. So, it would be sensible if the club focuses on reinforcing other areas of the pitch, which need immediate addressing.
