Arsenal are expected to make a new attempt for Athletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.
Arsene Wenger admits speaking with Ivan Gazidis and Stan Kroenke about the potential signing of Antoine Griezmann but the Colchoneros are unwilling to sell their big star for anything less than his buy out clause – €100m.
There has been extended contact between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid, both during and after the Euros in France but Griezmann isn’t in a hurry to move elsewhere.
Antoine Griezmann’s advisor has said that the France international was happy to sign a new deal with Atletico Madrid despite interest from Premier League clubs and Paris Saint-Germain. Griezmann, 25, extended his previous deal by one year in June, meaning the attacker is now tied to Atletico until 2021.
Griezmann was the best player of the recently concluded Euros and was the top scorer with 6 goals to his name. He has been in a blistering form ever since his transfer from Real Sociedad to Athletico Madrid for €30 million scoring 44 goals in just 75 appearances for the Colchoneros.
Football writer and journalist Emanuele Giulianelli has again come up with rumor out of the blue that Arsenal are chasing Griezmann talking to Athletico Madrid about the potential transfer. He tweeted:

There have been reports earlier about Arsene Wenger meeting Antoine Griezmann and Arsenal fans have been long impending for a striker like his quality.
Arsenal are waiting for Chelsea to sell Diego Costa to Athletico Madrid so that they can sign Antoine Griezmann. Chelsea will sign Romelu Lukaku and Athletico Madrid already have Gameiro and Torres. Same thing happened when Bale signed for Real Madrid and We signed Ozil. Because of this, talks have delayed between Lacazette and Arsenal.
At that moment, Wenger will try one last time for Griezmann. The last contact was when Wenger asked Atletico to be kept aware of Griezmann’s availability.
But with it being nothing but a speculation, we hope that Arsenal don’t lose out on another striker because of it. We need a world class striker and we need him as soon as possible.
Although Antoine Griezmann would be an amazing signing, we hope Arsenal gets at-least Lacazette because something is better than nothing and we all know €100m is probably a bit much for notoriously tight Wenger.
