“Immense player, Absolute gem”, Many fans overjoyed as Arsenal sign Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey

Arsenal announced the signing of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid after triggering his release clause on deadline day and many fans took to Twitter to express their excitement.

The Ghanaian joins the North London club after spending seven years in Spain. He has grown into one of Atletico’s most important players and helped them win Europa League in 2018.

Partey arrived in London on a dramatic deadline day after the Emirates club paid his release clause. The Gunners have been negotiating with Atletico through the summer to sort out a deal, but the Spanish club were reluctant to let him go.

Hours before transfer deadline Arsenal decided to trigger his £45 million release clause, which meant the North Londoners could directly deal with La Liga to complete his signing.

Many Arsenal fans and even journalists were quick to praise the deal. Here are some of the best reactions:

Getting the midfielder is without a doubt, a massive statement of intent. He is the kind of player that transforms the squad and instantly upgrades the midfield.

The Ghanaian is adept at breaking up play, dribbling past his opponents and finding a pass. It is this unique combination of talents that makes him such a great player. Mikel Arteta will be very happy that he finally got his man after trying to negotiate a deal through the summer.

The addition of the former Atletico player along with a returning Dani Ceballos gives the Gunners midfield a facelift and with Lucas Torreira going the other way to join Diego Simeone, it was important to fill up that slot with a quality signing.

Partey will let the North Londoners impose themselves on games much more and when playing against the best teams, it is important to have someone like this who can contribute on both ends of the pitch.

It’s time for international break and Arsenal will be happy with the business that they have done. Fans will be waiting for club football to resume so they can have a glimpse of their new signing. If Partey’s Atletico performances are anything to go by, the Gunners have got a world class player.
