Hector Bellerin is expected to leave Arsenal, claims Charles Watts

Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is expected to leave the club before the end of the transfer window, as per journalist Charles Watts.

The 26-year-old joined the north London club back in 2011 from Barcelona and was thought of to be one of the best young right-backs in the world, however, the defender failed to reach his full potential due to injury concerns.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Watts stated that Arsenal and Bellerin have mutually agreed that parting ways will be the right decision for both parties. The north London club are working to find a suitable destination for the Spanish player.

However, talks regarding a potential transfer haven’t progressed yet. The Emirates club are continuing negotiations to find a move before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. He said:

“I think if Arsenal are going to do anything in terms of incomings before now and next Tuesday, it will be the right-back situation. Hector Bellerin’s certainly not guaranteed to still be at the club, from what I understand, next Tuesday.

“Nothing has happened with Bellerin yet, though, but talks are ongoing to try and secure him that move away. Obviously, running out of time for it to happen, but everyone at Arsenal, Bellerin, are kind of in agreement that this would be best for all parties. It’s just a case of trying to get the right deal done for Arsenal and the right deal done for Hector Bellerin.”

Arsenal Fever View:

Cashing in on Hector Bellerin will be the right decision for Arsenal. The defender has lost his way in the last couple of seasons, and offloading the 26-year-old will free up the wage bill for the Emirates club.

The defender has an unimpressive injury record and hanging on to the player makes no sense. The north London club will need to sign a proper replacement if the Spaniard is to leave the club. So, the club management will have to work quickly.

The Gunners hierarchy have done a really good job in the transfer window by bringing in some exciting talent and offloading players who are not in Arteta’s plans. There are still gaps in the squad and the club should address them before the window closes.

Meanwhile, after back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, Arsenal have smashed Championship side West Bromwich Albion by 6-0 in the EFL cup and most importantly Aubameyang scored a hat-trick. So, ahead of a crucial game against Manchester City, the north Londoners will be confident going into Saturday.
