‘Great News’ – Arsenal fans happy with Martin Odegaard decision

Martin Odegaard

Real Madrid are keen on keeping former Arsenal loanee Martin Odegaard at the club for next season, as per reports in Spanish publication AS.

The Norwegian was a success in the brief spell that he had at the Emirates where the youngster impressed with his playmaking ability. But the 22-year-old has since returned to Madrid where it appears that he is set to play a big part under new manager Carlo Ancelotti.

AS report that the Gunners are keen on having the midfielder back in London. But the player has held conversations with Ancelotti, and it appears that he has been assured to get more game time.

This is a blow for Arsenal’s chances to sign the Norway international as he is the club’s primary target to solve their creativity problems. But the response from the north Londoners’ fans to this was a bit surprising with many of them happy with the news.

Though statistically, Odegaard might not have had the biggest impact on the Gunners, but the youngster was a key contributor. As far as manager Mikel Arteta was concerned, this was the player he wanted to be the link between midfield and attack.

There are other options being linked with the Real player preferring to stay put at his parent club. One of them is James Maddison of Leicester City and while both are different kinds of players, they will perform the same kind of role.

It remains to be seen who the Gunners can get to fill in the creative void at the Emirates. But they do need someone who can play in the middle as it will also take a lot of pressure away from Emile Smith-Rowe.

Though there is some time left in the transfer window, it appears that the Norwegian’s future is in Madrid and it means that Arteta will have to look elsewhere to find a player to fill this role. Arsenal do admire Odegaard and would like to have him back but with the appointment of Ancelotti, it is likely that the 22-year-old will be given a more prominent role for the Spanish giants.
