Fans react as Arsenal plot shock move for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham

Arsenal have established their interest in signing Tammy Abraham but they are yet to make an official bid for the striker, according to Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano and some fans have reacted skeptically to this potential deal.

The 23-year-old has an impressive goal-scoring record with 125 goals in 266 career games. He joined Chelsea at the Under-8 level and progressed through the academy. He has racked up 30 goals and 12 assists in 82 games for them. Abraham also had loan spells at Bristol City, Aston Villa, and Swansea City.

Romano has reported that Chelsea are aware of the Gunners’ interest to sign their academy graduate. He further adds that they are not in advanced talks with the Blues yet.

As per reports in The Sun, Arsenal face competition from West Ham and Tottenham to secure the England international’s services. The North Londoners currently lead the race to sign him.

It further claims that the proposed deal is a loan for one year with an obligation to buy for £40million next summer. This helps Chelsea reduce their wage bill and finance other areas of the pitch.

Arsenal Fever View:

With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their 30s, signing a young Premier League striker would be an absolute necessity for the Emirates club. Eddie Nketiah has been reported to leave the club. Although Folarin Balogun is an exciting prospect to have in the squad, he lacks experience of playing in the Premier League.

The Chelsea ace was a regular starter for the team but things took a turn after the arrival of Timo Werner. He had 12 starts in the Premier League last season but when afforded regular minutes in the 19/20 season, the 23-year-old scored 18 goals making him the club’s top scorer that season.

Abraham’s hold-up play is very good and the youngster also has an impressive pace, which enables him to run in behind the opposition defence. Another appealing factor is his aerial presence, something that Arsenal forwards lack. He is Premier League-proven and young with huge potential.

However, the £40million price tag could be a hindering factor in the completion of this deal. For a young player with just 12 starts under his belt last season that is a far-fetched asking price. If Arsenal can negotiate a lower price for him then Tammy Abraham could prove to be an ideal signing for the Gunners.
