Arsenal are interested in signing AC Milan’s Franck Kessie and they currently lead the race to take him away from Italy, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport. Some fans on Twitter were delighted to hear this news.
The 24-year-old joined AC Milan in 2017 on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy. He managed 54 appearances in his first season and since then has become an indispensable figure for the Rossoneri. The Ivorian had an impressive campaign last season after claiming 14 goals and registering 6 assists.
As per reports in Gazzetta Dello Sport, the north London club are in pole position to sign the midfielder. The report further states that the San Siro club have slapped a €50million price tag for their star.
Although AC Milan are determined to extend Kessie’s contract, Calciomercato have suggested that initial contract talks have stalled as both parties failed to come to an agreement over a new deal. This has cast doubt on the former Atlanta player’s future in Italy.
This is how some fans reacted on Twitter:
This would be an amazing signing he’s absolute class.
Key part of Milan’s midfield and they’re back in the Champions League, so I’d be surprised tbh.

Excellent midfielder but would require a strong offer. Milan are finally on the up while we’re stuck in limbo so I don’t see him wanting to leave Milan unless it’s for a powerhouse club rn

Arsenal Fever View:
It is no surprise that the north Londoners have been linked with yet another midfielder. Dani Ceballos and Martine Odegaard have returned to their parent club after their loan spells. Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi are set to leave and the club will just be left with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny in midfield.
The Emirates club endured a difficult season and Mikel Arteta will be desperate to add quality to his midfield ranks. The club has lacked goals from midfield and with 14 goals last season Kessie can certainly chip in with goals. The Ivory Coast international is known for his energy, aerial abilities, and dominance. He would adapt to the physicality of the Premier League fairly quickly too.
However, the €50million price tag could hamper Arsenal’s plans. It is also reported that the 24-year-old has attracted admiring glances from several clubs around Europe. The lack of European football could be a huge obstacle for the north London outfit. There is no doubt that Kessie would walk into this Arsenal midfield but pricing him away from AC Milan could prove to be a Herculean task.
