Fans react as Arsenal keeper David Ospina produces a scintillating performace for Colombia

David Ospina

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina put in a scintillating performance in between the sticks to inspire Colombia past Peru and into the semifinals of Copa America.

Ospina started last season on a bright note but a horrific Champions League group game against Olympiacos which resulted in him getting sidelined for the most part of the remaining part of the season.

Recent reports also suggest that Ospina is set to leave the North London club this summer to Besiktas.

Keeping his club future aside the Colombian produced a wonderful performance for his National team in the quarterfinals. The keeper wasn’t troubled for most of the game until the final minutes.

However, he pulled off a superb save deep into extra time to deny Peru a goal before saving a spot-kick from Peru defender Miguel Trauco in the shoot-out to clinch a nail-biting win for Colombia.

Colombia drilled their first three penalties, but the tide turned in their favor when Trauco saw his effort blocked superbly by Ospina. Sebastian Perez then scored Colombia’s fourth penalty to put his 4-2 up and when Peru’s Christian Cueva blasted his spot-kick over the bar Colombia were through.

Here are some of the reactions from the Fans.

He is even in the Matrix now.

Different angle, same brilliance.

They want him to run for President.

Finally here is another save he made during the final minutes of the game.
