‘Enough now’, ‘Please leave my club’, some Arsenal fans slam 27-year-old’s display in Crystal Palace defeat

A section of the Arsenal supporters have slammed the performance of defender Shkodran Mustafi in the aftermath of the club’s 3-2 league defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace.

The Gunners had the opportunity to leapfrog Tottenham Hotspur to the third position on the table by beating the Eagles, but they instead suffered a rather surprising defeat.

The loss was the club’s first in the league at the Emirates Stadium after 10 games, and a few supporters were unforgiving over the performance of Mustafi, in particular.

The Germany international has been fond of making unnecessary errors which have cost the team in the past and he made another such blunder, which handed Palace with the three points.

Mustafi had a below-par performance during the course of the 90 minutes, but his main error came with the scores at 1-1, where he allowed Wilfried Zaha with a free hit on goal after misjudging a hopeful punt from Christian Benteke.

The German had wanted goalkeeper Bernd Leno to speed off his line to intercept play, but he did not help his compatriot at the crunch moment after he failed to shield Zaha from having an attempt on goal.

Here are some of the tweets regarding Mustafi;

Mustafi’s performances have always posed question marks during his time at the Gunners, and the latest display should present genuine doubts whether he has a future with the side beyond the summer.

Arsenal are scheduled to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their next league outing and the game should provide the fans with some relief, considering Sokratis Papastathopoulous should return to the mix after a two-match domestic ban.

The Gunners have been poor on the road over the course of the season, but they can’t afford any slip-ups during the final four games of the campaign, if they are to qualify for the Champions League through their domestic phase.
