One of the newest players to be linked with Arsenal has been Argentina striker Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan.
The 23-year-old has blossomed since moving to Italy in the summer of 2018 and led the Nerazzurri along with Romelu Lukaku. Last season was another strong campaign for the forward who scored 19 goals in all competitions. He also played a crucial role in his country winning the Copa America a month ago.
Telegraph are claiming that the Gunners have made contact with Inter regarding a move for the Argentine. Mikel Arteta considers the forward as one of his options to bring in a new striker, but the Italian club are keen to keep hold of the player.
Once the links with Martinez came out, Gunners fans were excited by it and a lot of them were all for this potential transfer to happen. They took to Twitter to show their excitement and it was clear to see what they thought of the 23-year-old. Here are some of the best reactions:
If we get him then I’ll give up my agenda on the Kroenkes for a while 😂

Arsenal Fever View
One factor that could hinder this deal is the price tag that has been placed on the forward. Inter value their young star at around £77m although there is a good chance that he can be signed for a lower fee. The Gunners would have to part with a significant amount to complete this transfer.
But the temptation to bring in Martinez is clear because of the kind of player that he is. The Argentine is one of the most unique forwards playing today as he could be described as a combination of Roberto Firmino and Sergio Aguero. If he were to be part of the north Londoners’ setup, it can help revolutionise their attack.
One possible effect of this interest in the forward is that a couple of the Gunners’ strikers may leave the club. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, both of whom have only one year left on their contracts, would probably have to make way for the Argentina international and their sales could raise vital funds.
This transfer is in its initial stages but the prospect of it is an interesting one. Arsenal would benefit a lot from having a striker with the talent and capabilities of Martinez. Striking a deal with Inter is another matter and it may take some time before that happens.
