Bordeaux president Stephane Martin has confirmed that the French outfit won’t listen to offers highly-rated Brazilian Malcom before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
The youngster had been underlined as one of the prime targets for Arsenal earlier in the summer after Alexis Sanchez was due to linkup with arch-rivals Manchester United.
Ultimately, Arsene Wenger pulled up a surprise swap agreement with the Red Devils with Henrikh Mkhitaryan making the switch to the Emirates, and this has switch the club’s focus to the centre-forward position.
Speaking to French outlet Sud Quest, via TalkSPORT, Martin put a stop to any speculation after he assured that Malcom won’t be leaving the club during the transfer window, he said: “There is no shadow of ambiguity, Malcom stays at Bordeaux.”
Moreover, Gus Poyet was brought in as Bordeaux’s new head coach earlier in the month with the condition that Malcom will be staying put for the season at the least.
Arsenal have lost the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott over the space of six months, and it won’t be a surprise if we come back for his services at the end of the campaign.
At 20, his inexperience is something which is often talked about in the media, but his progress in the French league has been impressive with eight goals and six assist in 25 outings.
Malcom is capable of trying long shots whilst also being impressive with his hold-up play but he may have to improve on his discipline after he appeared to dive for a penalty which he won and scored in the weekend win over Lyon.
