Charlie Patino has attracted a lot of transfer speculations in recent weeks, but the youngster is expected to stay put at Arsenal this season, according to Journalist Charles Watts.
The 17-year-old rose through the ranks of Luton Academy and joined the Hale End academy in 2019. Since then, he has made 34 appearances for the club at the youth level, impressing coaches and fans alike in the process.
Patino stole the limelight this season after a string of impressive performances at the U-23 level. Mikel Arteta has also integrated him into the first-team training. The Spaniard is likely to include him in the squad for the upcoming Cup games.
Charles Watts claimed on his YouTube channel that the north London club have no intention of loaning him out this season. They rate him highly and consider him as a bright prospect. The player himself is delighted to stay at the club.
The Gunners are also lining up a new long-term contract for the teenager. Since he is happy with the progress being made, agreeing on a new deal shouldn’t be a cumbersome task. Watts said:
“Arsenal really really rate Patino. As it stands, he’s not really earmarked as one to potentially go out on loan, he’s more to follow the Bukayo Saka path in pretty much going straight into the first team – that’s the plan for Patino as it stands,”
“Sources close to him are absolutely delighted with the way his progress is being managed so far. He’s very, very happy at Arsenal. He doesn’t want to leave, so I can’t see any sort of problems with him signing a new contract.”
Arsenal Fever View:
The Hale End academy has been producing talented players for a long time, and Patino looks to be the latest one to emerge from its doors. He is a central midfielder by trade, renowned for his passing abilities. He should be determined to follow the footsteps of the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.
Arsenal have lacked quality in the center of the park, and Patino would be a vital addition to Arteta’s squad. However, Arteta should be wary of the fact that he is still a teenager and should only be steadily integrated into the senior team.
Charlie Patino is definitely on track to make his senior Arsenal debut for the club this season. Undoubtedly, the 17-year-old is a star in the making.
