Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez could reportedly snub interest from local rivals Chelsea for a move to Bayern Munich at the end of the season. The Chile international has not yet penned a contract extension despite approaching the final year of his Gunners deal.
Sanchez, 28, has been the standout performer for the Gunners this term, and his tally of 21 goals and 11 assists in the top flight have helped the club attain a respectable position in the league.
While the Chilean continues to be linked with a potential exit from the Emirates, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has insisted that the player will stay next season regardless of whether he signs a new deal.
According to The Sun, via SportBild, Bayern Munich have made significant strides towards the attacker this summer with his agent Fernando Felicevich having already held talks with the club’s representatives.
Felicevich also represents Bayern’s Arturo Vidal, and this could put the club in an advantageous position with the former Juventus man being a national teammate of Sanchez. The Gunners will reportedly demand £50 million for Alexis Sanchez if the Chilean fails to sign a new contract.
The forward has been in a good run of form of late with goals and assists for Wenger’s team, but he is nevertheless said to want Champions League football – something which is far from guaranteed next season.
The Gunners are currently three points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City and their chances of qualifying for the elite competition look slim as they also have a goal difference of five to recover.
In spite of this, Sanchez could end his Arsenal career on a high, should they manage to beat Premier League holders Chelsea in the FA Cup final later this month.
