Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal will begin contract talks with Bukayo Saka by the end of this campaign and the player is happy to stay at the club.
The 20-year-old rose through the ranks of the Hale End academy and made his senior debut for the club in 2018. Since then, his growth has been exponential as the youngster won Arsenal’s player of the season in 2021. In just four years, he has amassed over 100 appearances.
Saka’s rise to prominence did not go unnoticed as the youngster was awarded a call-up to the England national team in 2020. He secured 14 caps and has been involved in eight goals.
The academy graduate is becoming an increasingly important member of Mikel Arteta’s team. And like any other talented youngster, he has also become a subject of transfer speculations. Some reports claim that Liverpool and Manchester City are keeping a close eye on the contractual situation.
However, Romano has brushed aside those rumors. He believes that Arsenal will offer a new contract to Saka by the end of this season while also claiming there wouldn’t be any stumbling blocks in the deal as the player is happy with the north Londoners. While speaking on The Here We Go podcast, he said:
“I wanted to say one thing about Bukayo Saka because it’s normal to have a lot of rumors on Bukayo Saka. This boy is doing incredible. I think sometimes he’s underrated in the press, but he’s a special talent.”
“The player loves Arsenal, and at the moment, he’s not planning for something different. Contract talks won’t take place now. It’s not in February, it’s not in March, they will discuss maybe end of the season. But Arsenal are, of course, happy with him, and he is happy with them. So I don’t see any problem.”
Arsenal Fever View:
Saka is one of Arsenal’s most valuable assets. He has been on top of his game this season, scoring 8 goals and providing 4 assists. So, it is not uncommon for a player like him to be linked with other clubs. However, they need not worry about the possibility of him being poached by another club.
The youngster’s current contract does not expire until 2024, giving the Gunners plenty of time to extend the contract. He has been an integral part of the team in recent years and has built a strong bond with the supporters. Hence, it is just a matter of time before he signs another deal with the club.
Meanwhile, the Gunners face Wolves in a crucial Premier League clash on Thursday night. A victory can propel them closer towards the Champions League spots.
