Some Arsenal fans have expressed their delight over the performance of defender Calum Chambers during the club’s 3-1 Premier League triumph over West Ham United on the road.
The England international was chosen in place of David Luiz at the heart of the defence and he came up with a commanding display as the Gunners returned to winning ways for the first time since early October.
Chambers had barely played in the central defensive role this term but against the Hammers, he was a dominant figure in the air at the back as he was able to win 7 out of his 7 aerial duels.
Elsewhere, he also managed two successful tackles, three interceptions and delivered five long balls (whoscored) towards his teammates and this has certainly pleased a section of the Gunners faithful.
Here are some of the reactions on Twitter…
Calum Chambers solid as a rock at centre back. Composed on the ball too. Fun fact – He's only started centre back in a
back 4 twice in the league this season. Both times in away games. 0 goals conceded from open play. Should never have been dropped in the first place.— Sash ~ (@ltarsenal) December 9, 2019
Chambers has been solid and from the first minute he was prepared to take the ball and play.
Well done son.

Pepe. Martinelli. Chambers. A win.
Glimmers of light. Something to be positive about. What a relief.

Chambers had certainly improved with the defensive aspect of his game following the loan stint at Fulham last term but he has likewise made the occasional mistake which have contributed to the opposition scoring.
Still, it can be said that he has not been able to cement his place in the central defensive role and the errors have largely resulted when he has played at right-back, which is not his strong suit.
Arsenal have a tough Premier League game against holders Manchester City next weekend and the fans will be hoping that Chambers can replicate the showing to keep the Cityzens at bay.
