Shortly after the match-up between Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in the quarter-final of the FA Cup, the draws for the semi-final stage was done.
The Gunners have been drawn against Pep Guardiola’s Man City for the semis whilst Chelsea have been handed a match up against Tottenham hotspur.
With Manchester United already having the EFL Cup in the cabinet this season and Chelsea seemingly running away with the League title, the hunger to claim this trophy will be significant in the minds of Arsenal, Tottenham and Man City.
Arsene Wenger will be looking to add one more FA cup trophy to his illustrious career for a record Thirteenth time whilst Pep Guardiola who has enjoyed Champions League trophies both as a player and manager in Wembley will be seeking to enjoy more good fortunes on the ground.
Pochettino’s Tottenham despite their impressive displays since last season have failed to show anything for it in terms of trophies. Hence, they too will be seeking to claim this one for themselves.
Despite being top of the league, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea seem very determined to finish the season off with a double to show for it and this was most evident in the game against holders Manchester United.
There’s no doubt that this trophy will be tightly contested for and any team lacking in commitment or spirit on match day will certainly come out of the game second best and regretting it.
One can only hope as an Arsenal fan that this trophy is given serious attention and commitment to salvage what is left of our season.
Perhaps it may even serve as a wonderful send forth gift for Arsene should he yield to pressure and decline to renew his contract at the end of this campaign.
Matches will be played on the 22/23rd of April 2017.
