There have been a lot of names floating around as to who will replace Unai Emery at Arsenal. One of the names that has been mentioned is that of current Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.
But it appears that the chances of the Gunners getting the Argentine are slim. Speaking on the situation of the Atletico boss, Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has offered an update.
The BBC reporter said:
“Diego Simeone has no intention of leaving At. Madrid, has had no contact from Arsenal now or in the past and it’s not in his immediate plans (say, next year) to go to Arsenal or any other PL club.”

This is certainly a blow for Arsenal as they would have liked to have gotten Simeone with him being one of the club’s targets(as per Express). He is among the many names that have been linked with the job but it looks he will continue his stay in the capital of Spain.
If somehow the North London club were able to convince him to make a move to England, it will be a real coup given the level of success that he has achieved in his time with Atletico. One of the reasons why he is such as appealing choice is the defensive solidity that his teams have.
This can be seen in the way that Ateltico perform as they have become one of the best defensive sides in the world and have been so for a few years now. All of this is down to the relentless and aggressive style of football that he likes his teams to play.
Also, if Simeone becomes the Arsenal manager, there wont be any lack of attacking intent that fans seem to be wanting. It will be a different world compared to the one that fans will be familiar with during the time of Arsene Wenger.
For now though, the onus is on Freddie Ljungberg who has been given the position of a caretaker manager. And until a new manger is sorted out by the board, it will be up to the Swede to steady the ship. Arsenal need to get someone who can lift the club both on and off the pitch and it will be interesting to see who they go with.
