Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club haven’t taken any decision regarding the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil but hinted that they might be shown the door in January.
Ozil and Sanchez have been an integral part of the Gunners first team since joining the club in 2013 and 2014 respectively. The superstar duo’s contracts will expire at the end of the season, so Arsenal need to get them out in January to re-coup atleast some part of their investment.
When queried on the future of his stars, the French boss confirmed that a decision will be taken in December. Speaking to Bein Sport, Wenger said:
“No decision has been made on that front,” the Frenchman said.
“Do we let anyone go in January? We’ll have to think about that to see where we stand with them at the end of December.”

At the end of last season, it was more or less evident that the duo are unlikely to sign a new contract with the club and it would have been better to let them go in the summer.
However, that was not the case and the North London club are in a tough spot now. Players and the interested clubs always prefer to sign a pre-agreement in this situation which will be mutually beneficial for both the parties involved.
In this case, Arsenal will find it hard find suitors in January as the interested clubs would rather wait for summer and get their player without a transfer fee while the player can demand a better contract with the new club as there is no transfer fee involved.
It will be a blow for the Gunners to lose on the duo for free, so the best option would be to get them out for a decent fee in January and then invest the same money in finding suitable replacements which won’t be easy though.
Let’s see how this unfolds in January!
